Grey's POV

Nova screamed so loud, I was sure she alerted the entire pack with her terrorizing screams. I watched her helplessly, as she curled into herself in the grass.

I knew there was nothing I could do, I could sense her change about to take place. I knew it was only a matter of time.

And it was happening now.

"Grey!" She called out to me, but I had to give her the space she needed. So I backed away, very reluctantly I might add.

I sent a quick message out to the pack and in private to Kale, calming their worries and telling Kale to handle any noseybodies who came looking.

It was hard to do with Nova screaming in such pain, in such fear and confusion. My mind couldn't focus on anything but her.

"Please! Please, make it stop!" A bone cracked and she gasped like it'd be her last breath.

I dropped, pounding a fist into the floor.

It was hard to stand back, to sit and watch her in so much pain and not be able to do a damn thing about it.

I got as close as I could to her. "I'm here, baby. I'm right here."

Her eyes shown up at me, reflecting and looking a fiery, dangerous blue afterwards. "What's.. happening.. to me?" She said between clenched teeth.

Her top and bottom canines slowly began to elongate.

"It's time, my sweet supernova. It is time." I smoothed her sun-kissed locks away from her face. "Breathe. Deep breaths."

"I can't.. I can't- Ah!"

I looked up at the moon, yelling at the Goddess herself.

Dammit, got dammit!

Another fist to the ground.

And another crack. This time, much louder. And even louder was her agonizing screams.

I haven't cried since I was a child, but I'd be a liar if I said a tear didn't find itself in the corner of my eye. Ready to be shed.

I'd never begged so much in my life. I could only imagine how Nova felt in this moment.

I'd never seen such an excruciating change, most likely because everyone I knew had changed when they were suppose to.

Nova's change had been stunted for so long.

I reached down, putting my hands at the hem of her shirt, doing my best to get it off of her. Then her shorts, well, my boxers.

But with her body bending and breaking, the best way to do it was simply ripping them off of her.

She screamed again.

"There's nothing else I can.. I'm.."

The tear fell as I watched her body contort and reshape itself. I could hear more than just the reconstruction of her bones, but the rearrangement of everything inside of her.

Everything was being reconstructed to fit into a new shape, a new form.

That of a wolf.

"My skin.. I-It's.. burning. My.. body.."

"It only feels this way once."

Merde. I'm so sorry, pet.

"I promise it only feels this way once." I said again, unsure if I was comforting her or myself at this point.
