When we got to Grey's, it was late in the day. I realized his house was hidden deep off an old dirt road that stretched for miles, that eventually went into deep woods.

"If I'm going to be staying here," I said getting out of the car, "Then don't expect us to be sharing a room exotic eyes. I've seen your place, you've got plenty rooms."

"Any one of them you like is yours."

"Oh, I had one in mind."

I kicked my shoes off and splayed myself out across the familiar golden sheets.

They still smell like earth and vanilla.

I smiled.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"Declaring this my room."

"Not sure that's what I had in mind."

I sighed in contentment, well.. almost contentment.

"Get out wolf boy, I need to take a shower."

He stood in the door frame, his arms crossed over his chest, and his face grim.

"Only for the simple fact that you need something on your stomach, will I leave my room."

"Don't poison my food."

"Don't mess with my toothbrush."

I pouted like he'd foiled my plan. "Touché."

I got a chuckle out of him before he left the room, closing the door behind him.

When I heard his footsteps trail off in the distance, I slowly sat up in his bed. My body felt like it was going to shut down with how exhausted it was.

I'd ran so far, for so long, I felt like it was near impossible for someone to be able to do that. But I did, and it made me feel good when Grey told me that he was proud.

Was it because of what he was hinting at? That somewhere down my family line, we had werewolf in our blood..

I peeled my clothes off of me and padded over to his bathroom. It was always neat and organized, apart for the large white dress shirt that hung over a towel rack.

I walked over to it, grazing my hand over the soft fabric and leaning down to smell it.

Of course.

Vanilla and earth.

I took a quick shower, not wanting to be standing for too long. But when I got out, I was sure to slip on the white shirt and get into his plush golden bed.

Mm.. forget contentment. This is sheer bliss.

Just when I started drifting off into what felt like was going to be good sleep, Grey walked in. He wasn't loud, but his presence interrupted my slumber.

"Rain check Grey, I need to sleep today off."

"Not before you eat."

"I don't even have the energy to kick your ass out of here, let alone sitting up to eat and endure conversation with you."

"You aim to hurt feelings, don't you little supernova?"

"You? Mr. Nonchalant, has feelings to hurt?" I said in the most sarcastic tone I could, sitting up anyways.

Catching a whiff of the food made my stomach growl.

"Mhm, that just won the argument for me. Now eat pet, I've got things to take care of."

"You don't have to babysit me, you know? I'm not a child."

"Then stop acting like it."

Ouch.

"You aim to hurt feelings, don't you wolf boy?"

"I'm.." He placed a hand to my cheek, "I'm sorry.. It's been a long day for the both of us."

I tilted my head, remembering earlier.

"What were you doing around my area earlier today?"

"Taking care of some business."

"Business that you're trying to get back to now?"

He hesitated a moment, but I could tell he answered truthfully. "Mhm."

"Are you going back?"

"Not now, just some talk. Documents. Things to discuss with Kale here in the packhouse."

"Who's Kale?"

"Mm.. Friend."

"My God, you actually have a friend?"

"I don't really have a choice, but he's a good man."

"So you're telling me you have a friend against your will? Of course. Is he a wolf too?"

"Yes, he's my Beta."

I mentally slapped my forehead.

"Fine, go off with your Beta and let me eat and sleep in peace."

"Be good pet."

"This food better be good, or we'll really have some problems."

He smiled, "You'll like it. I promise." He stopped, looking at me curiously.

"What?"

"Is that my shirt?"

"What? This? Oh, about that.." I looked down, subconsciously fixing the shirt.

He reached over, brushing my hair behind my ear. "I like you in it."

Curse my cheeks for flaming.

"You'll probably be asleep when I come back, don't wait up."

"Hope you weren't betting on it. I'm pooped."

"That I was betting on. You did good today, even though you were running from me." He chuckled.

"Shut up." I rolled my eyes, pulling the plate of food up to me. "Thank you." I said, hoping he'd understand that I meant both for the food and for the compliment.

I thought he was just going to get up and leave, but before he did he placed a swift kiss to my forehead.

"I'll be back."

"Get your own room, Grey."

He laughed, walking over to the door. "This is my room pet." He closed the door and I slumped back into the headboard.

What have I gotten myself into?

I debated on locking the bedroom door after finishing whatever this weird looking, but strangely delicious food was.

But after realizing how much I'd eaten and how tired I was, I was too beat to get to the door. So instead I got comfortable for what I knew was going to be a good night's rest.

I laid there for a while with my eyes closed, thinking about everything that's happened in the past week and how I felt during all of it.

When I realized how overwhelming everything was, and how I knew deep down I believed everything Grey had been telling me so far, I cried.

I wanted to cry like a baby.

But I didn't for two reasons: One, I was extremely exhausted enough already. And two, Grey would most likely come storming in here, freaking out.

I laughed at the image.

Then let myself fall asleep to the pictured thought of pale brown eyes, with a spec of beautiful green.
