I had made it into the woods, when I started to get creeped out by the sounds I started hearing behind me.

While in a stupid tantrum, I didn't think about the dangers lurking out here.

That woman.

Or Titus.

But my pride wouldn't let me turn back now. No matter how spooked out I was, I couldn't go cowering back to him with my tail between my legs.

I mentally slapped myself for my choice of words.

That's it, though! Legs! I ran far before, I can do it again. Can't I?

I picked up a fast jog, but my body wasn't having it, and slowly began to shut down on me.

I was athletic, but my body had never endured this much in two days. Especially without any food in my system.

I returned to a slight speed walk, ignoring the aching feeling I got from that alone.

Just when I was about to give up, a small flicker of hope shot through me when I seen what looked like a clearing in the distance.

Good, a break from all these trees.

I pushed my pain aside and quickened my pace, until I was sure I could make it at least to the beginning of the clearing.

But the closer I got, the more I realized that it wasn't a clearing, just a few fallen trees that cleared the area. But nonetheless, plenty more trees surrounding and up ahead.

"Dammit." I sighed, dropping down, my breathing heavy.

I knew I wouldn't be able to take much more of this, my body would give out soon. I was too exhausted.

I heard leaves crunching, though I wasn't sure from where. I tried to push myself up, but it shut down. The damn thing finally shut down.

My legs buckled and locked under me and I fell to my side.

"Nova!" Grey ran to me, kneeling down and placing his arm around my waist to help me up.

"Of course you're here, but.." I was confused from the direction he'd come from. "How are you coming from where I was going?"

He was inspecting me as he spoke, "You're fast, I thought you'd be far out, so I hauled ass further but you didn't show. I thought you might've given me the run around, so I came back this way."

"And here you are, the always convenient Alpha Grey. Ow!" He had touched my left hip.

"It's probably bruised, let's get you back to the packhouse."

"I'm not going anywhere near your whorehouse."

He narrowed his eyes at me. "I don't have time for this. You're hurt."

"I'm. Not. Going."

"Fine. Have it your way, you stubborn brat." He scooped me up, tossing me over his shoulder.

"Hey! Put me down!" The more I tried to wiggle free, the more my side hurt.

"Stay still Nova, you're only hurting yourself."

"Oh yeah? Just like I hurt my own feelings?"

"I told you it would."

"Ugh! You stupid man! Don't you get it? It's not what you said, it's how you said it. I could care less if she was some fling."

He stopped walking.

"You don't?"

"No! I don't care.. Well.."
