When Grey got us back in the room, he had my injury checked out by some random old lady he called Pack-Nurse Mae.
She was sweet, but boy was she rough with her hands, no matter if you told her it hurt or not.
"Thanks again." I smiled as she bowed her head to me, before starting to leave the room.
"You're very welcome, Luna."
I rolled my eyes.
Again with this Luna crap.
"Just Nova." I called after her, but she'd already closed the bedroom door.
"So," I turned to Grey. He was sitting on the couch instead of the bed. "Have you thought about it yet?"
"We haven't even been back inside for an hour yet."
"So? An hour is more than enough time."
When we'd started getting closer to the packhouse, I had seen ginger just leaving. That gave me an idea to make Grey a deal that I'd stay and behave, but only if he'd let me speak with the trespasser.
He almost dropped me when he went into a whole fit, but I told him I'd give him time to think about it and he just made a stupid noise in his chest like yeah right, and kept walking.
"No, pet. I told you before, I won't allow you to go down there."
"You'll be there with me. And you can bring Kale and whoever else to make sure nothing happens. I just.. I want to do this."
"Why? I don't want you in the middle of this."
"I'm the reason for this, so technically I'm dead smack in the center of this situation, wolf boy. And.. I want to do this because I can help. I know I can."
"What makes you think he'll talk to you?"
"I mean, have you guys had any luck?"
He clenched his jaw.
"I didn't think so. And you've helped me so much, I should do this for you. Just, let me."
He inhaled for a long moment, keeping a stern gaze on me. But for some reason, I knew he was about to give in.
"Merde." He exhaled, running both hands through his hair.
I smiled, thinking the gesture was quite adorable actually.
"Fine, pet. Fine. But you'll be accompanied by me, eight of my other men, as well as Kale."
"That's all?" I asked sarcastically, though I was thankful he was allowing me to do this.
"You won't be near him."
"I understand." I smiled, "Thank you."
Later that day, Grey took me to a more empty side of the packhouse. Four of his men walked ahead of us. Kale was close to Grey and there were four more of their men behind us.
I should've been completely focused on the fact that he was leading me to their underground prisons, but I was in awe with the men I was surrounded by.
