Grey and I decided- well, he decided- that he would pull a meeting with Monica and the security team, and would have me attend.
Now I was all for rubbing it in her face that her actions cost her her job, but knowing that the job she lost would be given to me was nerve-wrecking.
I would be in the presence of the pack's security team, obviously one of the most important departments here.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked Grey after we'd finished eating and left the kitchen to make our way to his main office.
From there he planned to phone everyone up for the meeting he planned to hold in an hour.
"Very."
"Again, you do know that I only threw one punch right?"
"That one was perfect. That one was enough."
I didn't argue with him further, seeing as to his mind was made up and set in stone. I simply made my way to his office with him, letting curiosity get the better of me.
I've been to his study before, but never his office. What the hell's the difference?
We stopped in front of a room with a huge wide door, that held a golden name plate that had Alpha G. Krem engraved into it.
"Will the meeting be held here?" I asked, watching him grab a set of keys from his pocket before unlocking the door.
"No, I'll be informing everyone who needs to be at the meeting when to be there from here. There's a meeting room. Only those who find themselves in trouble, finds themselves in my office."
"Ah, it's the punish room."
"It's my office." He shook his head, walking in and immediately going over to sit behind his desk. It was even larger and filled with more things than the one in his study.
"How will you be-"
He picked up a white box that was wired to his desk and spoke into it after pressing a button. "All department leads will be in the meeting room in forty-five minutes along with their assistants and flanks."
Hell, that sounds like a lot of people.
My nerves shot up.
A lot of new faces and new judgements. What will they think of me as their Luna and coming in taking one of the leads of the security department's job?
I stumbled into a seat and slowly sat down. Grey watched me with curious eyes for a moment, just when he was about to say something, his phone began to ring.
He narrowed his eyes at me suspiciously, but retrieved his phone from his back pocket and took the call.
"What is it?" He was silent for a moment.
I didn't care that I was flat out staring at him.
I could see a change of emotion in his eyes just before they reflected, then he quickly turned away from me.
My instincts told me that something was wrong.
"What the hell do you mean esc-" He looked over his shoulder, "I'll be down there in a minute." He hung up the phone and I could hear him silently curse under his breath.
"What is it? What's wrong? And please don't say nothing I should worry about, because you definitely look worried."
He crossed the room to me and leaned down to place a kiss to my forehead, that was slightly rushed and hard.
"I'm guessing you're about to ditch me again."
"Business with Kale, I'll be back in time for the meeting, my sweet."
"My sweet? If you've killed Mr.Tall, Dark, and Nonchalant I don't think I'll be able to let you get away with that."
He chuckled. "You no longer get him. You get Greyden."
My heart hammered in my chest by his simple words, I couldn't help but to lean forward and kiss the man.
"Don't be late."
"Call Audri and Lynn, they should be at the meeting."
That would give me some comfort, though I'm sure it'll take them by surprise. They don't even know yet.
"Okay. Tell Kale I'll kick his ass if he keeps you."
"I'll be sure to relay the delightful message."
"Why thank you, kind sir."
He stood, walking over to the door before turning one last time to look at me. And though he was smiling, that look gave me a really bad feeling.
Just as I'd talked myself into sneaking out that night back at my dad's, I talked myself into not calling Audri and Lynn and snooping up on Grey instead.
He was hiding something from me, I knew it, and I sure's hell was going to find out what.
From an upstairs window, I watched him leave from one of the back doors of the packhouse, which I thought was odd.
Normally when there was business with Kale, they'd meet in his study. But even then I thought Grey would be going down to the chambers, since he'd told Kale he'd be down there in a minute.
What are you up to exotic eyes?
This time I was sure to be more careful, following a little further behind, to stay out of range of his superhuman hearing.
It was a little difficult to stay quiet and keep up with him and Kale, these dudes were beyond fast.
Grey had to be just teasing me that night in the woods, because there was no way he couldn't have caught up to me.
When I noticed them slowing down, I slowed my own pace as well and began my investigation from above.
That's right, in the trees.
I climbed my way up stealthily and more quietly than when I was running behind them.
I camped out, watching their every move and trying to listen in and figure out what the hell they were doing this far out here.
Grey was in different attire than when he'd left me in his office. He now had on loose basketball shorts and a white tee.
He was prepared for something.
But what?
I looked around, squinting my eyes to look out into the distance. I could spot a few others, most likely from Grey's pack, lingering nearby.
What the hell is going on?
I stiffened, watching Grey walk closer to the tree I was in with an odd look on his face.
For a moment, I thought he'd known I was there and was about to bust me out, but when he ran off in the direction he was looking, I knew I was in the clear.
He ran over to another member of the pack, seeming to ask him questions, but they were too far away from my tree to hear what they were saying.
I watched them jog back over to Kale and as I was looking back in their direction, I noticed two faces peering at me from adjacent trees.
Holy fuck.
My eyes widened, realizing I'd been busted. My only thought was..
They're going to have me sent to the punish room.
