I didn't remember falling asleep, but when I woke up I found myself reaching for Grey.

But of course, he wasn't there.

I got out of bed, already having a place in mind to get to. His study. He was more than likely there.

I looked over to the clock on the nightstand. 7:54 AM.

Damn, does this guy ever sleep?

Sleepily stumbling my way through the halls, I found myself back in front of Grey's study.

"Hey wolf boy, I-" But when I walked in no Tall, Dark and Nonchalant was to be found. Not even the mess I'd made hours ago was to be found.

Hm. If he's not here, he better be making me breakfast.

I made my way back to the room and then from there to the kitchen, so that I wouldn't get lost.

"Grey?" I called out, but found myself in the company of someone else I didn't know. Neither Grey nor Kale.

"Morning." A rather snooty voice greeted me.

"Uh, hi."

"You must be the talk of the packhouse." A woman with ginger hair and oval eyes sat at the bar in the kitchen, not bothering to move from the stool.

"And I have absolutely no idea who you are." I added a bit of attitude, feeling her standoffish vibe.

"Just getting up are we?"

"Have you seen Grey?"

"Alpha. That's Alpha Grey to you mutt."

Okay Nova, you just woke up. Don't go punching people in the face this early in the morning.

"You were a lovely person to meet so early this morning, ta-ta now." I turned on my heel, just as Grey rounded the corner. Causing me to run right into him.

"Pet, what are you doing out of bed so early?"

"Getting acquainted with the lovely company you keep." I shot a glare towards ginger.

"Monica? Don't mind her, she works under the packhouse. So she's here often."

Something to look forward to.

"Monica," He walked over to the bar and gestured over to me, "This is Nova. Nova, Monica Blackheel. She works with security."

Oh joy.

"Pleasure."

"Pet, huh?" She turned to look at Grey, "Fitting."

That's it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to punch her.

"We don't think of it that way, as I'm sure you're aware, Mon. Don't tease Nova."

Damn right we don't think of it that way.

I held my fist to my side, fighting back the temptation her face was bringing. I didn't realize how much I'd grown to like the stupid name I normally fuss about.

And what's with this Mon stuff? He's clearly comfortable around her enough for dumb nicknames.

That's when it clicked.

They use to date.

I looked to the ginger haired Mon and caught how she watched every move Grey's muscles made as he walked over to the fridge.

Holy hell, they use to date. Is this who Kale almost mentioned back in Grey's study?

"You hungry?"
