Unexpected love

Chapter Sixteen: The match

Killian's POV
-- two weeks later --

February 12th. Exactly one month since Emma's birthday and 3 weeks since Henry's. It was valentine's day in 2 days and it seems that me and Emma's plans have been scrapped. Henry was still in hospital and we were still waiting for a match for his lung transplant. Emma has left the hospital once during these last two weeks to spend the night at her house and to get cleaned up.

Today, me and Emma decided it was finally time that we could let Liam to come see Henry. As at first we thought it was too graphic but Liam says he is comfortable to go in so I couldn't argue with him.

It was 3:34pm and I was waiting outside Liam's school in the car as the school day finished in less than a minute. The bell rings and kids flow out of the high school cheering as it was Friday. Liam was walking towards my car with a smile on his face. And I knew why. He was excited to see Henry.

"Hey Killian!"

"Hello mate! How was school?"

"It dragged on for ages! I've been waiting for the bell to ring all day! I can't wait to see Henry!"

"That's nice of you Liam. I'm sure he can't wait to see you too!"

"Can we go? I'm just too excited to wait any longer!"

I started the engine as I smiled with Liam's request. He put his seatbelt on and I drove out of the school car park and towards the hospital.

We had soon arrived at the hospital and Liam was literally bouncing on his seat with excitement. I couldn't park the car quick enough for him it appeared. Once I had parked the car he jumped out of the car and tried to wait patiently as I got out of the car after him. I locked up and we began walking towards the front doors of the hospital. Liam was practically skipping up the stairs and through the doors.

As we were a few feet from Henrys room, Liam stopped in his tracks. I turned to face him and his smile had dropped.

"What's wrong?.... Liam?"

"I.... What if he doesn't remember me?"

"If who doesn't remember you?"

"Henry?"

"Liam. Henry talks about you all the time. He definitely remembers you."

"But what if something happens to him while I'm in here? I can't watch Emma in pain. It will remind me of you in pain because of our parents."

"Liam.. Come on stop being silly. Everything will be fine."

I take his hand and his smile appears back on his face. I turn the handle of Henry's door and push it open.

Henrys head turns and Emma looks up as she sat beside Henry. I look at Liams face and a smile spreads from ear to ear.

"Liam?"

"Henry?!"

Liam runs up to Henrys bedside and hugs him tightly. Emma stands up and walks over to me and I kiss her forehead. Without hesitation Liam jumps on Henry's bed and they both start talking to one another again. Seeing Henry smile again must have made Emma's day. She couldn't help but smile at how close they both were. They would make the perfect brothers to each other.

Emma's POV

Seeing Liam and Henry together made me and Killian smile like dorks. They had been talking to one another for a good hour or so as me and Killian sat on the chairs at the other side of the room holding hands. During that hour nurses came in to top up henry on his chemo that he had just started two days ago but it didn't bother Henry. He carried on the conversation like nothing was happening. It was seriously the cutest thing ever. I couldn't wait to get Henry home again.

At around 8pm when Killian was just about to go get coffee from Starbucks, Henry's doctor came into the room with a file and a smile in his face.

"Good evening Ms.Swan, Mr.Jones." he says as he closed the door.

"Any news?" I ask.

"Actually yes I do."

My face drops as usually when the doctors have news these days its always been bad.

"But surprisingly its good news."

Henry's head shot up and he turns to face me and Killian. But he actually had a smile on his face.

"We have found a match."

Those five words were the words I had been waiting for, for 3 weeks. I jump into Killian's arms and we both giggle. Liam hugs Henry as he begins to cry with happiness. I ran up to Henry and also gave him an enormous hug. I cried into his shoulder as he hugged me back.

"I told you mom. Everything was going to work out. And look it has."

After our little freak out the doctor continued on with what he was going to talk about.

"The donor is a 15 year old male who died of natural causes. But his lungs were not affected. We can schedule the transplant for tomorrow if it suits? We would like to get it done asap." The doctors explains to us.

"Yes, yes! That would suit amazingly!" I smiled as I stared at Henry.

The doctor smiled back and then left the room. I jumped back into Killian's arms and cried some more. It was the best news I had ever heard.

That night it was so hard to get leave Liam to leave that he insisted he would sleep in a chair beside Henrys bed or in the private waiting room. Unfortunately me and Killian couldn't say no as we didn't want to separate them.

We set Liam up a chair to sleep in with lots of blankets and pillows that were in the private waiting room and left him and Henry to sleep in the room. A nursenvame into the waiting room to tell us that they had given Henry his last dose of chemo for the night.

At 11pm I checked in the boys to find them fast asleep. I turned off the light and the heart monitor lit up the room with its bright green, red and blue lines. I then went back into the waiting room and snuggled up with Killian with more blankets and pillows.

"See. I told you everything was going to be fine."

"Guess I should listen to you more."

"I love you Emma."

"I love you too... What's up?"

"Nothing. Im just glad I have you."

"I'm glad I have you too."

"Goodnight love."

"Goodnight."

|Its Christmas break! Which would mean more updates but for me it actually means less because I spend time with family and I visit the graveyard for family too!
