Unexpected love

Chapter Seventeen: The surgery

Emma's POV

I couldn't be more excited for the morning to come. The hours dragged by. As I leaned on Killian who was fast asleep on the waiting room sofa I couldn't sleep a wink. Knowing that hopefully I could bring my son home and get back to work again in my bakery and spend my life with Killian too.

At 6:30am I slowly got up from Killian's side trying not to startle him and wake him up. I walked over to the door of Henry's room when I could hear chatter. I opened the door to find Liam and Henry giggling over a joke that appeared Liam had told.

"Morning Sunshine's."

"Morning mom."

"Morning Emma!"

"What are you both doing up do early?"

"I couldn't sleep mom."

"Umm.... Liam. Could you go into the waiting room with Killian for a sec?"

"Sure."

Once Liam had left the room henry bursts into tears.

'Hey... Hey! What's wrong henry?!"

I pulled him into a tight hug as he cried into my shoulder. It broke my heart to see him cry.

"I'm scared mom. I don't want to go into a operating room. I'd rather die than go."

"Henry.... Kid I can't let you die. This surgery is going to change your life and I'm not taking that away from you."

"But what if I die during the surgery."

"Henry your in safe hands I promise you won't.
Hey I know how it feels. When your little sister died I had to get surgery to get her out. I thought something bad would've happened and you would've been left an orphan. But I trusted my gut and I pulled through. So just believe in yourself Henry. That's all you need to do."

"Thanks mom."

Seeing Henry in a terrified state when he's crying and shaking in fear always had made me emotional. But mothering him is my job so I have to just cope with it.

- a few hours later -

The surgery was soon. I was sitting in Henry's room while him and Liam played cards. Killian walked into the room rubbing his eyes and yawning.

"Good morning sleepyhead."

"Morning love. Sorry I woke up late."

"Its okay you deserve a sleep in."

He sat beside me and kissed my cheek making me blush. I grabbed his hand and intertwined my fingers with his. He smiled and I placed my head on his shoulder.

A group of nurses, surgeons and doctors came into the room and I knew it was time. My nerves started taking over and they hadn't even taken him away yet.

"Okay Henry. We are all ready for you down in the OR. Now we just need you."

The surgeon seemed to be in a hurry so me and Killian quickly stood up and followed them as they wheeled him out of his room. I ran up beside the bed as Killian and Liam walked behind. I held his hand up to my chest as he stared at all the huge group of surgeons walking in front of us. He tensed up as we got closer to the OR.

"Hey kid. You will do great. And I will be right out here waiting for you to get out."

"Thanks mom. I love you."

"I love you too Henry.'

And with that they wheeled him in. I let go of his hand for what could be the last time or for many to come. Who knows. I just had to hope for the best.
