Chapter Fourty One: Comfort

Killian's POV
A few days later.

Emma had been in the ICU now for a few days and she had been recovering in some way. The doctors say that the pre-eclampsia isn't deadly no more and nothing more can be done to get rid of it. Which hopefully meant we could leave soon and go back to New York.

Lily had stayed at the hospital ever since she had arrived here in Boston. She offered to also stay with us when Emma was sent home and help around the house and help Emma when I'm at work. Having her around was going to help a lot and would calm my nerves for me also knowing she has someone looking after her.

At 2pm a doctor came in to give Emma an all clear to go home. Not because she had gotten better, but because they think she will recover quicker at home in a comfortable environment. We packed all our stuff and I phoned my Aunt Iz to tell her we were going home. She started to get the boys ready to go home also.

As I went to load Lily's rental car with all our stuff, Lily got Emma ready to leave. When I got our discharge papers and brought them up to the room, everything was packed up and Emma was ready. We wheeled her out to the car in a wheelchair and I went to the pharmacy to get all her new medication to go along with the already huge amount of medicine we had at home. We then set off on the long journey back to New York.

I sat in the back with Emma as Lily drove. Emma fell asleep on my shoulder straight after we had left. I wasn't surprised, she went through a lot these past couple of days.

We arrived in New York a few hours later and I gently tapped Emma on the shoulder to wake her up. We pulled up at the house and I carried her to our room.

As I walked back downstairs I was greeted by Ella and Scarlet who has just woken up. I fed and watered them and then let them outside. I made Lily a coffee and then brought some water and mediation up to Emma.

To my surprise she was sitting upright, looking at a sonogram picture we had framed in our room. Her face lit up when I walked in as I handed her her medicine and water.

"I'm sorry about all this Emma. We just gotta take it easy now."

"Killian it is not your fault. We have been through this. But right now I would really just like to sleep."

"Of course love. I'll leave you in peace."

I kissed her cheek as I fixed her pillows for her. I then left the room and slowly closed the door getting a last peek of her eyes fluttering with sleep.

A few moments later my Aunt Iz, Liam and Henry showed up. As the boys went over to Lily, my Aunt Iz handed me a pile of letters we had received whilst we were gone. I left the ones that were addressed to Emma aside and opened all my ones. There was one addressed to us both from Liam's school. I decided to take a quick peek at it incase it was anything important.

Out of complete surprise, it was an acceptance letter for Henry to go back to public school. My stomach fluttered as I visualise the moment I tell Henry and Emma and how happy they both would be. Not being in school is incredibly hard for a 13 year old. So I knew it was goin to boost his confidence again.

I decided to wait to tell the both later tonight and hugged my Aunt Iz goodbye. I sat beside Lily as the boys made a conversation with her to keep the mood up.

I hear footsteps and I turn to see Emma facing me with a smile on her face.

"What are you doing up? Your meant to be on rest."

"I know, but I wanted to come down and see you all."

She sat beside me and I wrapped my arm around her and kissed her forehead. I turned on the Tv and put on Netflix for us all. We scrolled through the Disney movies and put on Peter Pan. I knew Emma loved Peter Pan growing up when she was in the foster system because it helped her with her current situation at the time. We snuggled together and forgot about most things that has happened within the last few days.
