'What do you think?' I said pushing the changing room curtains open striking a pose. Dad and Billy stood infront of me observing the dress from top to bottom. We had gone to the mall and were in hope of finding the right dress for the dance.
I fumbled with the front of the dress awkwardly. Peering into the mirror I gagged. It was bubblegum pink with silver sparkly detail on the chest and stuck out at the bottom. It clearly wasn't flattering or my type of dress. 'It looked different on the hanger' I mumbled letting out a groan of frustration charging back into my changing room block.
Strolling through the mall I began to feel disheartened linking arms with dad. We had been trudging around most of the stores for the whole day. 'You'll find something' he whispered. 'I don't think so dad'. Billy looked into the distance examining something I failed to see myself. Grabbing my shopping bags he pushed me forcefully. 'You haven't tried that store? GO.'
With my hands free I ran frantically towards a shop called 'Chloe's Boutique' as the shop assistant attempted to pull down the shutters. 'STOP' I yelled. The assistant abruptly stopped folding her arms in annoyance. 'I'm afraid we're closing' she responded back coldly.
'Well I'm afraid you now have to open' She smirked at my boldness. Dad ran over, billy trailing behind dragging my bags. 'How much Miss?' dad said short of breath. He paused and continued. 'To keep this store open?' I smiled at dad. The lady raised her eyebrows as she spoke back. 'I'm sorry but we don't accept cash or..'
She stopped mid sentence peering at dad's hand stuffing a clump of cash her way. Nervously she pressed the button in the store lifting the shutters back up. 'Maybe just... this once' I sighed in relief pulling dad into a hug.
Awaking the next morning I hopped out of bed with a smile on my face. Today was the day I would be going to a dance with a gorgeous guy on my arm. I blushed in the mirror realizing my use of the word 'gorgeous' being used to describe liam. Walking towards my wardrobe I took out the dress I purchased, holding it up to my chest swirling around like a toddler.
Excitingly I grabbed my iphone plugging it into my speakers blasting chris brown's turn up the music climbing onto my bed jumping up and down in time with the beat. The speakers boomed vibrating shaking the whole room. Singing along I grabbed my hairbrush as a microphone playfully yelling like a deaf walrus.
A knock was heard which led me to quickly jump off the bed and take my phone out of the speakers. 'Coming' I yelled opening the door slightly. Dad and billy were standing right infront of me laughing hysterically. I shoved them walking down the stairs. 'You guys wish you could sing like that' I said with a hint of sarcasm. Trailing behind billy responded back. 'Yeah whatever'
Sitting at the table for breakfast I ate dad's special pancakes with syrup and eggs in silence . Clearing his throat he then spoke. 'You excited chicken?' Looking up from my plate I smiled 'Yup. Should be fun. I didn't really go to anything like this back home.' He seemed puzzled in response. 'Why not?'
Our conversation came to a holt as the doorbell rang. Bolting out of my seat I ran to open the door pushing past billy as I said 'I'll get it!' Opening the door a wave of fresh air hit me as I looked ahead realising nobody was at the door. Sighing I began to close it back in dissapointment as I was secretly hoping it was liam until I felt something brush against my foot. Bending down it became clearer that it was a bunch of red roses wrapped in gold ribbon myself picking them up carefully.
Gazing at them in shock I opened the card inside reading the message. 'See you tonight beautiful- liam' it said my heart almost beating out of my chest. Closing the door behind me it knocked again. Peering back around a female with a giant make up set gleamed at me. 'Ummm?' 'Are you lana?' she said pushing past me into the hallway. 'DAAAAD' I yelled.
Running foward he gazed at the flowers, then the female next to me. 'Nice flowers hunny. And this is Ariel' 'Why is she here?' 'To get you all done up tonight' "But...' 'My treat' 'I guess I better have a shower' I mumbled unenthusiasticly trudging up the stairs.
