Chapter 23 – When you love someone who loves someone else...

Alvar’s POV

I saw her crying over there but I just can’t go to her. How can someone do that to her? I avoided Gwen because I know I’m starting to have some feelings towards her and I also know, she likes another guy and that guy is the one causing the pain in her heart right now. She just saw the video of Seth being dared to court her. Does that mean Seth doesn’t really like Gwen? That he just played with her feelings all the time? Ugggh! I cussed in silence as I saw her ran away.

Seth also followed her. I ran to follow them too. Am I a masochist? I mean, I might see them get back together. I cussed again, and there I saw them. Gwen slapped him as tears fell down from her eyes to her cheeks and down on the ground. I hate to see her in this situation. I know she loves Seth already. She wouldn’t be that affected if she doesn’t, right? I cussed again.

Then, she ran away. I followed her until she reached the subdivision. She stopped for awhile in front of her house and ran again until she reached the subdivision playground. I remembered the time when we stayed here. She was the one who comforted me when I had problems with my dad and now, it’s my turn.

I sat beside the swing she was sitting on. “Hey.” I said. She looked at me. There was sadness in her eyes. “Why are you here? Diba dapat nandun ka sa school?” tanong niya sabay punas ng luha niya.

“I saw you crying. That’s why I went here.”

“Psssh! Umalis ka na! Parehas lang kayong lahat! Iiwan niyo rin ako! Ano? Did someone dare you to follow me too? Umalis ka na! Iwan niyo na ako lahat! Please lang! Ayoko ng masaktan! Tama na please! Tama –“ I didn’t let her finish her hate speech. I don’t want to hear it. I just hugged her.

“Well, I’m not like them.”

“Ganiyan rin ang akala ko noon eh *sniff” –Gwen

 “It’s okay. I know it takes time to have someone’s trust, but, I promise, I wouldn’t break that trust like what that stupid jerk did to you.”

“THOSE… My father lied to my mom. He lied to me. I saw him with that girl.” I was shocked to hear that. I didn’t know.

“… Seth knows that! He knows that!” She punched my back. I don’t care if she does that. It’s okay as long as it helps her. I don’t mind getting hurt for her. JUST FOR HER.

We stayed like that for awhile when she said something I never thought she’ll ever say. She’s not the kind of person who would want that.

“I want revenge.”

Seth made her like that.

Seth’s POV

Sinampal niya ako at sinabing ayaw niya raw marinig ang paliwanag ko. Napaluhod nalang ako habang tinitingnan siyang tumatakbo papalayo sa akin.

“I love you, Gwen.” I mumbled. Bakit ngayon pa? Mahal na kita, Gwen eh. Mahal na kita. Ang sakit pala. Yung taong minahal mo, nasasaktan. Hindi lang basta nasaktan, kundi nasaktan dahil din sa kagagawan mo. Tumayo ako ng may humatak sa akin at bigla akong sinuntok.

Napahawak ako sa labi kong dumudugo.

“Paano mo iyon nagawa sa kaniya ha!? Tangina mo, Seth! She trusted you!” Sabi ni Alderic. Alam ko naman yun eh. Kaya nga, masakit. Ayokong nakikita siyang nasasaktan ng ganoon. Alam kong nasabi ko sa kaniya na gusto ko siya pero ang mas masakit ay yung hindi ko nasabi sa kaniyang mahal ko siya because it’s too late.

“She never trusted anyone! Masaya nga siya nung nakwento ka niya sa akin! Pero, paano mo iyon nagawa? Paano nakaya ng konsensya mo!?” sigaw niya sa akin. Nakita ko naman si Jessie na paparating at inaawat na si Alderic. Nandun din si Evan at pinapalayo na si Alderic sa akin, ngunit, hindi nila nakaya.
