The new job

I woke up super early this morning at about 7am and got in the shower I was the only one in there I wanted to avoid other ladies seeing me naked by the time I got ready it was 9:30am so I headed for the kitchen "Ah your the new girl I'm Mendoza head chef of the kitchen" Mendoza said and shook my hand she showed me to the area where I'll be working "You have 2 hours to chop all 4 boxes of these vegetables so the faster you work the quicker you can do your second job then the quicker you finish work for the day" she said she handed me a knife and I started chopping although I hate cooking I was done within and hour "Wow your good! Your second task is to serve dinner to the inmates" she said I walked out to the serving area and all I had to do was put a spoonful of some processed meat onto their trays which didn't take long at all. I finally say and had my dinner but I was excited to see my mum and brother.

My mum put $50 on my prison account so I went to the little shop available and bought 4 boxes of instant noodles 3 chocolate bars and some deodorant I got there first and within minutes the rest of the stock was gone cause of the sale I returned to my bunk and out my stuff in my cupboard "Have fun with your mum" Piper said "Thanks I will" I said before running to the meeting area "NO RUNNING!" A guard shouted "Sorry" I replied I got to the meeting area and my mum and brother were there we sat down and started talking. "All your friends are saying how badass it is that your in prison" my brother said whilst my mum hit him "Sweetheart I know it must be tough here but you've done a week already how is things?" She asked "Yeah it's good I guess I've made a few friends and I even have a job in the kitchen, my bunk mate is nice she's looking out for me" I replied "That's good to hear, your dad would have been here too but you know how angry he is about you being sent to jail" she replied "Some woman told me that I won't be realeased after half my sentence is that true?" I asked "That's what I was just going to mention, the judge ruled that if you serve 1 year 5 months here with good behaviour he will let you out but you will be tagged and will have a strict curfew" she said "That's fine so I'll be released in October 2016 that's not too bad I guess" I replied "Any slip ups and a month will be added to that time" she added sternly.

We sat and talked when the siren went off "All prisoners get on the floor" a guard said so we had to my brother turned to me and whispered "You look like a idiot" he said and laughed a few moments passed and we could get back up again a screwdriver went missing or something I don't know. Visiting time was over "I'll see you in a few weeks stay strong and call me whenever" my mum said as she hugged me I returned to my bunk but Piper wasn't around no one was really "Hey Marshall everyone is out in the yard you coming?" Vause shouted "No thanks I'm gunna rest I'm really tired" I replied I shut my eyes and fell asleep but woke up to someone on top of me I tried to scream but they covered my mouth "Shh it's ok" Crazy eyes said whilst stroking my hair "Get off me you freak" I shouted before jumping away from her a guard came running over and subdued Crazy eyes "She gets like this when she's hungry it's nothing to worry about" the guard said before taking crazy eyes away.

~next day~
I woke up early again and set off to the kitchen more chopping vegetables I guess today I was in a slow mood it took me an hour and half to chop all the vegetables when all of a sudden a scream could be heard and a fire broke out in the kitchen "HOLY CRAP!" Mendoza shouted before pushing the fire alarm I tried to escape but I couldn't I was trapped when suddenly someone grabbed me and pulled me away I was coughing my face was burning, some guards came running over with fire extinguishers and put out the blaze all the kitchen staff gathered in the communal room and Mr Healy came in "Girls as we know a fire broke out earlier in the kitchen today, no one was severely hurt about from Marshall who had a few burns on her hands" he said everyone turned and looked at me with my hands wrapped in bandages "The kitchen was not badly damaged however the fire was started deliberately by a inmate placing flammable liquid into the oven, no one leaves this room until someone is down the hill and will stay there for the rest of their sentence" he snapped no one stood up until the old shy lady stood up "Norma?" "Norma...." "Oh my god Norma" everyone was saying she looked at us before she was led away by some guards "Now ladies please return to your normal business" Mr Healy said before everyone dispersed from the room.
