AN: Hey guys! Since it's my birthday today, I'm going to post two chapters. This one is longer that the ones I've been posting, but the next one is short again. After the next chapter, I'm going to try to make all of my chapters longer like this one. Enjoy!
Chapter 50:
Jessica's POV:"Morgan, I want to give my two weeks notice."
"Why? What's wrong with your job?"
"I'm just not happy here. I never was. I don't get paid near enough and I didn't go to college just to wait on you hand and foot." I explained. "Plus, I met someone really special while I was in Chicago, and I don't want our distance to break us up."
"Well, I can't say I'm not surprised. I thought you loved it here. I know I can be kind of picky sometimes, but I always thought I treated you fair." Morgan looked up at me. "But I know the struggles that a long distance relationship can start, and I want you to be happy."
"Thank you so much! Now I just need to find a job in Chicago."
-------
"You did what?!"
"I gave my two weeks notice." I told Nick. "I want to be back with you, in Chicago."
"I miss you." Was all he said.
"I miss you too. That's why I'm going to find a job and move there." I said.
"I'll keep an eye out for salons in need of people who went to hair styling school."
"Thank you." There was a long pause as I just listened to the other starkids shouting in the back. "I love you." I finally said.
"I love you too. I'll see you soon, alright?"
"Yeah, see you soon."
As I hung up, I couldn't help but feel sad, wishing I was with Nick and not stuck here in Nebraska for another two weeks.
-----
I hurried and got Morgan her coffee, praying I wouldn't be late on my last day of work. I was up late last night packing the moving van and woke up late.
As soon as I was off of work, Sami and I would head down to Chicago. Sami had decided to move down with me, but Hailey and Vivian would stay in Nebraska. They really enjoyed their jobs and didn't want to move, but assured me that they would visit often. They said they would be visiting to see me, but I knew it was actually to see their boyfriends.
I went to knock on Morgan's door right as she opened it.
"Good morning Jessica." She said, taking her coffee and motioning for me to follow her.
"I know this is your last day, but I still have some work for you to do." She led me towards the conference room. "I need you to get the room set up for a conference we're having later today."
As I opened the door, I noticed the lights were off. When I turned them on, I almost peed my pants.
"Surprise!" All of my co-workers jumped out from their hiding places.
"What's this for?" I asked, once my heart rate was back to normal.
"It's a goodbye party for you." Morgan explained.
"You didn't have to do this for me."
"We wanted to. Now enjoy your last day and eat some cake."
