Chapter 11:
AJ's POV:
I walked over to Jessica, joining her on the swing, my palms sweaty.
"Hey." She said, smiling once she saw it was me.
"Hey." I said. How do I bring up her boyfriend? I can't just say I overheard her talking. Then she'd think I was eavesdropping, which I wasn't. I just happened to hear her conversation. "So, uh, how has it felt being back in Chicago?"
"It's been really great. I have really missed all of you guys." She answered.
"Well, we've all missed you too." I said awkwardly. "Is there anyone in Nebraska you miss right now?"
"Yeah." My heart dropped. She does have a boyfriend. "My three best friends. They're really great, and they're all big fans of Team Starkid." I was a little confused. She never said anything about a boyfriend. Although, she might just be referring to him as her 'friend' so she doesn't hurt my feelings.
"That's cool. Do they know that you're friends with us?" I asked, trying not to just blurt out 'Do you have a boyfriend?'
"Two of them do." She said. "I didn't want to tell any of them because I was worried that would be the only reason they would want to be friends with me. I decided to tell them once I got the call about Twisted, but one of them was out of state with her family for two weeks."
"That's cool. What are they like?" I asked, hoping for some information on her 'boyfriend.'
"Well, Hailey is super smart and an amazing singer. She is good at pretty much everything she does. She is almost always cheerful and puts everyone in a good mood." So Hailey is obviously not her boyfriend, but there'a still two friends left.
"Vivian is a mega fangirl. She is obsessed with Dr. Who, Sherlock, Harry Potter, and Starkid of course. She is pretty much a fan of anything you show her. She is easily excited over anything that involves any of her fandoms." She said, laughing. I mentally crossed Vivian off my list.
My last friend is Sami. She is really supportive and helps me through all of my problems. We support and help each other through all of our problems, big or small, no matter what they are. We always fangirl together."
That was the last friend, which means she either doesn't have a boyfriend, or just never told me about him.
"So, no boyfriend?" I asked before I could stop myself. Jessica blushed.
"No. I haven't had a boyfriend since before I moved. There just haven't seemed to be many guys that I'm interested in."
Once she said this, my heart practically exploded. I had a chance! She doesn't have a boyfriend! I swore that that was the happiest I have been in a long time.
"So...uh...is there anyone...here...that you...like?" I asked, slowly. I didn't want it to seem too obvious that I like her.
"Maybe..." She said, but I could tell by her smile that she did.
"Who is it?" I asked, looking in her gorgeous blue eyes. She didn't answer. We just stared at each other for what seemed like hours.
As I looked into her eyes, I saw something...different. I didn't know what it was, but it was something that wasn't there before.
I noticed Jessi move forward a fraction of an inch. I did the same. she moved forward a little bit at a time, until we were an inch apart. I closed my eyes in anticipation.
