Chapter 35:
Jessica's POV:I gave Nick a confused look as he pulled into the fair parking lot.
"We've already been here. Why are we going again?" I asked
"Because you never went on a roller coaster." Nick said with a mischievous smile.
"I told you, I don't like roller coasters." I tried to talk him out of it. "I am deathly afraid."
"Oh come on! Won't you do it for me?" He asked, pouting.
"I'd really rather not." I said.
"Pwetty pwease!" I just looked at him. "I'll get you something special if you do!"
"Like what?" I questioned.
"Whatever you want!"
I sighed and opened my car door.
"Yay!" Nick said as he got out too.
"I swear, if I throw up, I'm aiming at you."
Nick just rolled his eyes, grabbed my hand, and pulled me towards the fair.
I could feel my nerves as the roller coaster got closer.
"Are you okay?" Nick asked me. I tried not to look terrified and nodded, but I'm pretty sure Nick could tell how scared I was. "You don't have to do this if you really don't want to."
"No, I need to now. I need to prove to myself that I'm Gryffindor enough to ride a roller coaster."
"That's good because we're here." Nick said, stopping. I looked up and saw we were at the front of the line for the roller coaster. Nick led me to the nearest open seats and we pulled the bar down to secure us. I took a deep breath and clung on to Nick.
The ride slowly started moving forward and my grip on Nick tightened.
"It's alright." He whispered into my ear and kissed my cheek. I smiled at him as the ride got faster.
'This isn't so bad' I thought to myself. I felt Nick move and I saw he had his arms in the air. I slowly let go of him and my arms joined his. I had a huge smile on my face.
"I can't believe I'm doing this! And loving it!" I yelled, causing a chuckle from Nick.
"I'm so proud of you for trying that!" Nick said once the ride was finished.
"Thank you so much for making me try it! It was so fun!" I practically screamed. "Can we go on it again?"
"Sure, if you're up for it."
"Maybe my stomach should rest for a little bit first."
We found a picnic table nearby and sat down at it.
"See, I told you it wasn't that bad," Nick insisted.
I stuck my tongue out at him. "Hmm, I don't rec-"
Nick shoved a piece of funnel cake in my mouth to shut me up. "Just thank me again, and I'll call it good," Nick said with a smile. I finished chewing, but paused and appeared deep in thought, baiting Nick with my hesitation.
"Okay, maybe, just maybe, you were right about the roller coasters and I should listen to you more often. So, thanks... I guess." I smirked at him.
"You know you loved it," he playfully mocked, before throwing a piece of funnel cake at me, which I gratefully caught in my mouth.
I ripped off a piece of funnel cake and threw it at Nick. He tried to catch it in his mouth but it hit his forehead instead. I snickered and Nick glared at me.
"It's not my fault you threw too high."
"Maybe I threw right but you're just too short." I joked, causing another glare from Nick.
