Chapter 43:
Jessica's POV:The rest of my performance went a lot smoother. I tried not to watch Nick the whole time, but he had such a proud smile on his face.
As I was exiting the stage for the last time tonight, I noticed Nick get up from his seat. I went backstage and waited for him. When he didn't show up for ten minutes, I started to worry. Maybe he was still in the audience and he just moved seats.
When Joe exited the stage after his final scene, I began questioning him.
"Have you seen Nick? Was he in the audience?"
"He walked out as soon as you were done. I haven't seen him since. Why?" Joe asked.
"Because I haven't either and I'm starting to get a little worried."
"I'm sure he's fine. He can be tough when he needs to be." Joe said, then walked away.
I began to pace, scenarios running through my head of what could have happened.
I heard the door to backstage open and I look up, expecting Jeff or Rachel. I let out a sigh of relief when it wasn't either of them, but Nick.
"Hey, where were you? I was getting worried!" I said, running up to him.
"I'm sorry. I had to get something special for my favorite actress." Nick said. He moved his hand out from behind his back and showed a beautiful bouquet of tiger lilies .
"Nick, they're beautiful!" I exclaimed. "How did you know tiger lilies were my favorite flower?"
"I asked Sami." Nick explained.
"Thank you so much!" I said, giving Nick a peck on the cheek.
"Oh come on, you can do better than that." Nick said with a grin. He wrapped his hand around my waist an pulled me in for a romantic kiss.
