Chapter 33:
Jessica's POV:We wrote until act two was almost finished. Matt came in about halfway through because he heard us laughing.
"I think that's enough writing for today." I said, getting up to stretch my legs.
"Yeah. We can write the end tomorrow." Matt agreed.
We stood there for a while, stretching from sitting for so long.
"Oh! Jessi, I forgot you came in here to talk to me about something. What's up?"
I froze, remembering Matt was still in the room. I gave him a look that said I wanted him to leave. He must have understood, because he left, saying he had to talk to someone about something.
"So what do you want to talk about?" Nick asked, sitting on his bed.
I sat down next to him, mentally telling myself not to chicken out.
"Um...I was...wondering if...um." I stopped and took a deep breath. I can do this. "I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner sometime? With me?"
"Like, a date?" Nick beamed at me, making my heart flutter and my stomach do somersaults. I nodded my head vigorously.
"I would love to." Nick said, his smile bigger than I'd ever seen it before.
"Really? That's great!" All my worries disappeared. "How about tomorrow?"
"Why wait until tomorrow? Let's go now." Nick suggested.
"But I'm not all dressed up. I look terrible."
"You look amazing. You don't need to get dressed up for me." I blushed, my face getting hot. "Come on, let's go." Nick grabbed my hand.
"A-alright." I stammered, surprised by the sudden contact. His hand fit perfect intertwined in mine.
Nick led me to his car and opened my door for me. "Thank you." I said, feeling my face get hot again. I can't believe I'm going on a date with Nick Lang!
We pulled up to a Mexican restaurant that I have never been to before. There was no name on the restaurant, just a sign that read Great Mexican.
"What is this place called?" I asked Nick, trying to find any sign of a name.
"To be honest, I have no idea. There is no name anywhere." Nick answered. "But I love this place. They have the best tacos ever."
We walked in, Nick holding the door open for me.
"What a gentle man." I pointed out when we were both inside. I saw a hint of pink on Nick's cheeks.
"What do you want?" Nick asked. I looked at the menu, scanning over my choices.
"A cheese quesadilla, please." I told Nick. He ordered both our meals and even paid for both of us.
"You didn't have to do that. I can pay for myself." I said.
"But I had to keep up my gentleman reputation."
Well thank you." I said as he led me to a table in the back. Nick pulled my chair out do me and pushed it in when I sat down.
"Stop being so...perfect." I said, smiling at Nick.
He looked at me, surprised. "I am far from perfect. I'm short, I can't sing, and my hair always looks awful."
"You're fun-sized, you're a great singer, and your hair is adorable." I retaliated, ruffling his hair and making it even messier than it was before.
