Chapter 55:
Jessica's POV:Sami and I walked back to the Manor, my stomach churning the whole time. When would I talk to Nick? And what would I say?
I started taking my white sandals off when we got inside, but Nick stopped me.
"I have a special surprise for you, remember?" He came over to me and grabbed my hand. "You may want to grab a snack before we leave though. It's going to be a while before we eat lunch."
I look at him skeptically, but grab two chocolate chip granola bars out of the pantry, one for him and one for me. I followed him out to his car and he opened the door for me, just like he did on our first date, and every time I have gotten in or out of his car since.
"So where are we going?" I asked as I fastened my seatbelt.
"It's a surprise." He replied.
"You and your surprises!" I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"I like to keep a little mystery in our relationship." He looked over at me before starting the car. The look in his eyes was full of love and I've never wanted to give myself to anyone more than at that moment to Nick.
I sat, very impatiently, in the passenger seat, trying to get it out of Nick where we were going and what we were doing.
"You'll just have to wait and see." He always replied with that. I was getting tired of hearing that, but it was sweet that he still surprised me with dates at least once a week.
I waited while Nick drove. He happily hummed to the radio as I looked out the window, trying to figure out where he was taking me.
When Nick parked the car, I knew exactly where we were at without looking at the sign that read Millennium Park.
Nick let me out of the car and I followed him to the trail leading into the park.
"What's the plan? Are we having a picnic?" I asked Nick.
"Nope." He just smirked at me.
"Then what are we doing?" I asked.
"Shhh. Do you hear that?"
"Hear what?" I stopped to listen, but didn't hear anything but the birds chirping in the trees. Then I heard the sound of a single note being played by multiple instruments.
"The music." Nick answered me.
"Are we going to hear a band?" I asked excitedly.
"I remember you were in band all through high school and college, and you loved it so much." He smiled at me and took my hand. "Let's go before they actually start!"
Nick started running and I followed. I soon saw the Pavillion that was our destination.
