« A Ball To The Face » || Kageyama Tobio x Reader

"Hinata, you dumbass! Look what you did!" Kageyama yelled, pointing at {F/N}'s figure on the floor.

"I-I didn't mean for it to happen! I only realized she was there when I had already sent the ball off!" Hinata retorted, moving his face away from Kageyama as much as he could.

"H-Hey guys..." {F/N} stuttered, looking at her hands and catching the attention of the two first years. "C-Could you guys get a tissue? Or my brother?"

Kageyama blocked the way so Hinata couldn't see what was going on, but that was made clear to him very fast. "You made her bleed, idiot!"

"I'm sorry!"

"Guys..."

Her hands were covered in blood and she didn't dare to get up, knowing it was probably a bad idea. She'd end up painting the entire place red or lose balance somehow and only make her condition worse.

"I'll go get Daich-san," The shorter one then said, moving towards the big doors that separated the gym from the outside. "You make sure that {F/N}'s fine!"

Kageyama wanted to scream something back at him in protest, but Hinata was already gone and didn't seem up for a change of plans anyways. Kageyama looked down at {F/N} and noticed the panicked look on her face, quickly walking over and trying to think of what to do.

"U-Uh, okay, so... You should- No, that's not right..." He squatted down in front of her and inspected her hands, seeing how badly they shook.

"I-I knew people could lose a lot of blood," {F/N} said, a bit scared that her nose still hadn't stopped bleeding. "But seeing this much worries me a bit..."

The young setter was silently trying to think of what to do to help her, which was written all over his face. Even though she was anxious of somehow magically bleeding to death, she couldn't help but think that he was quite cute when pulling a face like that. But how she ended up here? Let's back up a bit.

{F/N}'s brother, also known as Karasuno's captain, had asked her to check up on all the first years. They were still new, after all, and he just wanted to see how they were keeping up – and push his sister in the right direction. The two of them tended to talk about school a lot, and it didn't take him long to see past her lies and notice her crush on Kageyama.

So, long story short – because her brother wanted to hook her up, she was now bleeding on the floor.

"Well done, bro..." She muttered, shutting her nose off using her fingers – pinching it shut – and tilting her head back.

"I-I'm sorry, I really have no idea what to do when something like this happens... If that dumbass would've paid attention, you'd be fine."

{F/N} chuckled at his accusation which surprised the boy, bringing a blush to his face. He knew she could be cute at times, but the fact that she was still able to be cute while in a situation like this surprised him even more.

"Really? Because I'm pretty sure you got hit by a ball not too long ago~" She then teased, remembering his bloody face when he got hit. "But I guess my entire face is covered now, and my hands too. And it's still bleeding."

The sound of her muffled voice started to make both of them laugh, until she noticed the hesitation in Kageyama's eyes. Something was bothering him, and she wanted to know what it was now that she knew about it.

"What got your panties all twisted up?" She laughed, which made him flush a shade of red once again.

"I was just... Wondering, about something. It's not important." He looked off to the side and avoided her gaze, looking quite adorable when doing so.

"It is if you're pulling a face like that! Look, I know someone with a bloody face doesn't look like the best person to give you advice, but I can help, you know!" {F/N} tried chuckling, but it only made more blood go all over the place, so she tried her hardest not to.

He was still hesitant whether he should tell her or not, but in the end, he gave in. He knew her long enough to know that she wasn't going to give up until she knew.

"There's been this girl that's been on my mind for quite a while, okay. I just... Don't know how to handle it."

Hearing him say that made her heart flutter but ache at the same time – she wanted to know which girl made him act like that. Of course, she wanted to be that girl, but she couldn't easily changes his feelings if it weren't the case.

Trying to fight through her own mix of emotions she tried to smirk, teasing him yet once again. "Tobio's got a crush, huh?"

"Th-That's not what I said! Besides, love is stupid. She'd never like me, anyways."

Hearing him talking himself down so much, she really wanted to know which girl he was talking about. "I'm sure she would. You have a lot of things that could charm the ladies, so why would she not like you?"

She wasn't thinking too straight, but she hoped to still be helpful to him. Even if he wasn't talking about her, she wanted him to be happy – no matter how much it would sting.

"Because Hinata and I just spiked a ball into her face." His eyes were not aimed at her when he said it, and he was too nervous to look over and see her reaction.

Of course, being the unsocial and a bit stupid person she was, she was completely oblivious to what he meant by it. "Really, you did? Hope you guys took good care of her, I know how much it hurts."

These words made him turn his head, wondering if she was just playing stupid or actually was. When seeing his face like that, it finally hit her. He was in fact talking about her.

"Oh..." {F/N} whispered, wanting to look at him but also wanting her nose to stop bleeding and therefore unable to move her head.

"Told you she wouldn't like me." Kageyama frowned, a sad tone lacing his words as he averted himself from her again.

"Hold up," She chuckled, "Who said I didn't like you?"

"Are you saying you do?"

Her face turned red at the thought of saying yes, but it was not like anyone could see it – the blood covered most of it by now. "Of course I do. How could I not? You know, I was planning on confessing to you until this ball suddenly swooped me off my feet. Seems like it beat you to it!"

Her stupid little comment managed to make the boy smile as he sat down next to her, inspecting her face in hope of being able to do something for her. "Does this mean you'll say yes if I asked you out?"

"Try me, you'll have to find out!"

He was trying to keep her nose pinched together but she swatted his hand away with her free hand, not wanting him to get dirty because of her mess.

"W-Will you be my girlfriend, then?"

Through the mess she had become she smiled, "Of course."

Behind the door, Daichi and Hinata were softly laughing at the scene.

"You know, you didn't have to hit her that hard." Daichi laughed, patting the boy on his shoulder.

"This wasn't actually meant to happen... But Kageyama's got a lot of explaining to do. He never told me he liked her!"

"They're really easy to read. Both of them are radiating the happiness from their faces. We should probably clean her up, though."

"Yeah..."
