With the suitcase handle tightly trapped inside of her palm, {F/N} looked at her plane ticket with a bit of hesitation in her eyes.

"Stop being so nervous, {F/N}! Nothing bad is going to happen!" Her best friend, {Friend} said. "I'm sure we will be fine."

The two of them had purchased tickets together, but the agency they were flying with messed up – meaning that instead of next to each other, they were seated behind each other.

{F/N} was pretty shy around people she hadn't met before, so spending an eight hour flight next to a total stranger?

Of course, the two of them could ask the people to swap with them, but according to {Friend}, that was no fun.

Seeing {F/N} completely freeze up made her sigh, so she ripped the suitcase from her hands and set it down on the conveyer belt that would bring it to the plane. She thanked the lady behind the desk and grabbed the girl's wrist, before yanking her away. "We have a few hours to kill. Where do you wanna go?"

~•~

It was time to board, and {F/N} was still fiddling with the buttons of her blouse.

"{L/N} {F/N}, stop worrying right this instant!" {Friend} yelled at her, unintentionally asking the attention of the other people that were going to get onto this plane.

{F/N} snapped her head up at {Friend} and was dragged out of her spot yet again, hearing chuckles leave the lips of everyone around them.

The two of them ran through the long tube that connected the waiting area with the plane and before she knew it, {Friend} was looking for their seats.

"Twenty five, twenty six... Twenty seven! {F/N}, I found your seat!"

Her cheeriness made the boy she was seated next to laugh, and when seeing how nervously {F/N} held the strap of her bag, he couldn't hold it anymore.

"Looks like these are our partners for the flight, Kenma!" The boy laughed, eyeing his friend in the process and not being surprised when seeing him engulfed in his game.

"See, {F/N}? They're just like us."

{Friend} sat down in the seat in front of {F/N}'s and held out her hand, soon shaking it with the person she shared her row with. "{Friend's full name}, nice to meet you!"

"Kuroo Tetsurō, ditto."

{F/N} sat down as well, silently inspecting Kenma's features without looking too creepy. He was different from the other guys she had seen, which made her smile softly – but a certain friend of hers had been eyeing her intently whilst she did this.

"Introduce yourself, {F/N}! Geesh, do I have to do everything for you?"

Kuroo snickered and looked out of the window, "I don't blame her. Kenma's not really talkative either."

{Friend} shook her head, "You should listen to {F/N} when she talks about games! She's not one to talk easily, but when that topic comes around the corner she doesn't know how to shut up!"

The fact that {F/N} played games grabbed Kenma's interest, so he continued to glance at her every so often whilst listening to what was going on in the conversation.

"Seems like Kenma's just as obsessed with video games as {F/N}, huh?"

The blond with black roots paused his game and locked eyes with Kuroo, "Am not."

"Are too."

"Am not."

"Are too."

There was a little pause of silence in which {F/N} and {Friend} eyed each other, wondering if they were always like this.

"Am not."

"Are too."

Kenma sighed and continued to play his game, followed by the action of Kuroo raising his arms.

"He'll start talking eventually. Right, Kenma?"

The boy ignored his friend and soon groaned when having to hit 'replay' yet again, but that expression faded fast and intrigued the girl next to him. {F/N} knew how frustrating it could be to be unable to beat a level, so maybe there was a way she could help him.

The girl was about to ask him about it, but {Friend} interposed.

"{F/N}, do you remember me grabbing my kneepads? How am I supposed to play volleyball without them?"

The teen tilted her head and thought, not recalling her actually picking them up. "I always have a second pair on me. You can borrow mine, just don't lose them."

"You play volleyball?"

The sudden words leaving Kenma's lips caused all three of then to turn their heads, before {F/N} nodded slightly.

"Y-Yeah. I'm my team's Ace, actually..." She didn't like bragging about the title, but the boy didn't notice her hesitation.

"Cool. Me too."

"Really? Which position do you play?"

"Setter."

A smile landed on her lips and she continued to ask him all about his team, suddenly being very talkative and wondering if she should shut up.

"I-I'm sorry, did I bother you just then? I have this habit of getting excited sometimes and I don't know when to stop-"

"It's fine. I don't mind."

Him saying that surprised her and the two in front of her.

"R-Really? Do you not find me annoying at all?"

The way she said it made it sound like it had happened before, but Kenma simply shrugged.

A small smile made its way onto his face as he replied, "No, not at all."

Back at the airport in the foreign country, the four of them were exchanging numbers to stay in touch. Turns out, {Friend} and Kuroo got along very well, and {F/N} and Kenma had a lot in common.

"Well, {F/N} and I have a match to catch. We'll text you guys after our victory!" {Friend} said, as determined and confident as ever.

"It was nice talking to you guys," {F/N} then said, her voice still being very soft and raspy from the nap she took. "And I hope we can meet back in Tokyo sometime."

The two of them waved goodbye as the two boys smiled at them, already having a trick up their sleeves. They didn't have practice, so why not stop by their match and say hello?

~•~

"Man, {F/N} makes spiking look so easy!" Kuroo groaned, tilting his head back as he looked at the scoreboard.

{F/N}'s team was winning by five points, not to forget about the first set they took.

"It's because she's calm and reserved. She doesn't give away what she plans to do, and it throws people off. That's what I've been trying to tell you guys." Kenma replied, eyes still following the ball on the court and smiling a little when {F/N} made another point.

Kuroo grinned and pointed at her as she was about to jump serve, "You so like her. You better go text her right now and tell her to meet you after the game."

"I don't like her."

The setter turned his head away from Kuroo, but deep inside he knew he was right and still ended up texting her.

And that's how their tale begun.
