« Nightmares » || Sugawara Kōshi x Reader

{F/N} really wasn't scared of many things, but the things that did scare her, left her absolutely terrified. She was happy to move out of her parents' house, but now that she had her appartment, she was reminded of how safe she felt back there.

The dark had never scared her, and the noises she heard were able to be pushed aside – it was most likely her mother or father, anyways. But now that she lived alone, that all took a turn.

Noises made her hide under the covers, the darkness frightened her when she was alone, and if that wasn't already worse enough, she'd been having nightmares. And not your average nightmare that you saw once every few weeks – these were worse.

She had been looking for ways to cease them on the internet, but all she happened to find was a song she could relate to.

Her boyfriend, Sugawara Kōshi, knew about this and had told her to call him whenever she was scared, but being the person she was, {F/N} didn't want to wake him up for her nonsense.

Hence why she was in the corner of her room, knees hugged to her chest as she rocked back and forth while listening to that one song. And just like the lyrics would suggest, she created a monster – a hell within her head.

She had been trying to go to sleep countless times, but she'd hear a shuffle or a noise and go right back to where she came from. The hours started to pass, and if she kept this up, she wouldn't get any sleep at all.

When her music suddenly stopped she panicked, but when she saw it was because Suga was calling her, she relaxed a little. She answered it and leaned her head against the wall, slumping in slightly.

"Still not sleeping?" Suga asked, the concern lacing his voice as he stood outside of her appartment – unknown to her.

"You really don't have to worry about me, it's fine. Please go to sleep, okay?"

The boy could hear her shivers of angst through her speech and shook his head, "I'm too far away from home to go to bed right now."

"Where could you possibly be at..." {F/N} checked her clock and flinched a little when seeing the time, "Five in the morning?"

"Open up and you'll see."

The girl's eyes widened as she put her phone down and walked to her front door, nervously opening it and being met with the face of her boyfriend.

"Can I come in?"

"I can't let you out here in the cold, so..." She stepped aside and let him in, closing the door behind her and locking it. Now that she wasn't alone anymore, she had one less thing to worry about – the darkness wasn't scary anymore.

"{F/N}... How many hours of sleep have you gotten this week?"

The girl pondered about thw question but sighed, "Like... Three? Which day is it again?"

"You're saying you only got three hours of sleep in six days? That really isn't good, {F/N}..."

The girl shrugged her shoulders, "It's more than I got last week."

"We're going to bed right now. Three hours is not enough to function."

Suga got up and grabbed his girlfriend's hands, dragging her to her bed and laying down next to her. He could tell by her breathing that she was scared, so he pulled her closer to him.

With her back against his torso, she stared at the window in front of her and sighed. He was warm, and it was a comfortable way to fall asleep – but that still didn't guarantee a night without mares.

Suga grabbed {F/N}'s hand and started stroking the back of it with his thumb, kissing her neck a few times to help her fall asleep. Her eyelids became droopy and staying awake became harder, but she was determined not to fall asleep.

"{F/N}, please... I'm right here with you, and I'm not leaving you until you wake up in the morning."

She knew he was being honest and that he'd stay, but she still was too scared to try. A lump formed in her throat but she didn't want to disappoint Suga either.

She forced herself to close her eyes and the boy felt her muscles tense up, which he responded to by hugging her even tighter than before. It took a while, but she actually did manage to fall asleep and slept for about three hours.

And hey, it may not have been as much as wanted, but it was more than she had slept in weeks.
