Iwaizumi was always excited for college. A new school meant a new start, and a new start meant new friends. New classes, new subjects – more options available for him than Aoba Johsai gave him.

Although he loved his previous teammates, he was relieved only he and Oikawa went to the same college. His first few weeks even went very well, seeing he managed to advance to a higher class than his best friend.

He found himself starting to actually enjoy school, and that certainly didn't go unnoticed by his setter friend. Oikawa continuously pestered Iwaizumi about it and the old ace continued to shrug it off, not knowing why he was starting to enjoy it himself.

However, after he started to pay attention to it, it became more and more clear why his days seemed to become better.

Akaashi Keiji, calm and collected, yet not afraid to tell people what they do wrong.

Akaashi Keiji, skilled and quiet, yet not afraid to throw himself out there.

Akaashi Keiji, the one male Iwaizumi swore was something special.

The two of them talked during their advanced classes but weren't relatively close yet, which was something Iwaizumi wasn't satisfied about. He found himself wondering more and more about the setter, coming to the extent of even questioning whether he was in love or desperate for a friend.

Determined to find out, he had asked Oikawa to tell him about how he felt when he first fell in love with his girlfriend. The feelings he described matched Iwaizumi to a T, and every time he replayed the conversation, it shook him up more.

He wasn't bothered by the fact that he fell for a guy, not in the slightest – but the chance of rejection was fairly big due to the same reason.

Akaashi wasn't really open about love himself, so there was no way in telling whether the ace was getting somewhere. Maybe he should just flat out confess, or maybe he should just put his feelings away. Maybe he needed to subtly try and win him over.

But which choice was the best?

The idea of rejection was eating him alive and even though he didn't quite show it, it bothered him so much.

"Iwa-chan, are you okay?" Oikawa asked, to which Iwaizumi snapped out of his thoughts.

"Shittykawa, if I were to... Like a guy, would you think it is... I don't know, disgusting or something?"

The setter cocked a brow and crossed his arms, "Why would I? If anything, Akaashi's lucky to have a guy like you all over him."

Iwaizumi blinked slowly before grabbing his bag, nearing the door of his friend's classroom. "How did you...?"

"You only talk about him, Iwa-chan~ Just go for it!"

Iwaizumi took a deep breath and nodded, setting a foot into the hallway and feeling a pair of eyes lingering on his figure. Figuring it was just Oikawa, he shook his head and advanced down the hallway, getting to his locker quickly and putting a few books back in his bag.

He kept telling himself he was going to be fine; that confessing his feelings wouldn't be hard and that he wouldn't be devestaded if he was rejected. However, that boat sunk quickly when the locker next to his was opened by the one and only Akaashi.

"You looked quite out of it today, Hajime-san. Is everything okay?" The setter asked calmly, switching out his own books and closing his locker as he waited for an answer.

Iwaizumi was at a loss for words and never imagined himself to be so shy when it came to this, since he had quite the outgoing personality.

He closed his own locker and locked gazes with Akaashi, feeling his heart pounding against his chest as his lips parted to speak. "I think I like someone."

The setter simply hummed in understanding and nudged for him to keep talking as they walked home together, which was seemingly a routine by now.

"Would you hold it against me if I said I liked a guy?"

Akaashi shook his head as his eyes traced the pavement, "Not at all, Hajime-san. Everyone has their preferences and I'm not one to judge over that. Besides, I have many friends that like guys. Bokuto-san, for example."

Iwaizumi was somehow relieved by this, but still nervous about the entire thing. What if Akaashi never wanted to see him again after he confessed?

"Then... Then would you mind listening to me?"

"Not at all."

Akaashi was actually somewhat curious about who his friend liked. He was actually somewhat jealous as well, wondering what guy would possibly be good enough for Iwaizumi.

"Do you think I should tell him how I feel?"

The setter scrunched his brows but nodded, "If it's bothering you, then certainly."

Iwaizumi took a deep breath and locked gazes with his friend again, his heart rapidly beating again as he processed the words he just said. "I really think you and I should go out sometime, then."

Akaashi was a little taken aback but could feel his worry slowly fading away, seeing that there was no need to be jealous of the person that would take his friend away. "That sounds like a great idea. We should."

Iwaizumi was already in the midst of apologizing until he realized what Akaashi was saying, to which his face burned with red. "Y-You'd wh-"

Akaashi pecked the boy's cheek and parted ways, stopping a little before entering his street. "I have to go now, Hajime-san. I'll be waiting on your text."

The setter turned away from the male with a small and subtle smile on his face, before starting his journey towards home. Iwaizumi simply stared at the retreating back and felt his head spinning after the tension.

One thing was for sure – he didn't have to worry about confessing anymore.
