"As you leave highschool, you leave me. You say nothing will change, but you're counting down the days, to when I can't see you every day. I hear you say, "I hate highschool" and "I can't wait to graduate." I can't stop time, but I'm not ready for you to leave. And as you leave me, please don't forget our memories, and all the fun times we've had. Remember the best memory yet, the one where we met. Because as you leave highschool, you leave me. I'll miss my senior, but you'll know where I'll be. Love, your underclassman."
Yaku stared at the note in his locker in disbelief. Who could possibly write something like this? Was it someone from year one, or from year two?
To be fair, he only really hung with first and second years that were on the volleyball team. Could it be from one of them?
Oh man, the thought of even getting a letter like this surprised him so much. Besides, he didn't even know anyone that would go out of their way like this.
He looked at it for a little longer until Kuroo popped up, trying to sneak a peek at the words before smirking at the libero.
"What's that, a love letter? Didn't know you did so well with the ladies."
The way Kuroo said it ticked Yaku off slightly as he gave the boy a slap, before putting the paper in his pocket and walking away.
"It says 'underclassman'. I'm thinking it's from someone on the team."
"Ah, so a confession from one of the guys? Interesting. Didn't think they'd swing that way."
Yaku rolled his eyes, "Says the one that has a massive crush on K-"
"That's not the point right now."
The libero smirked at the position he got his captain in, before returning to his usual expression and nearing the gymnasium. "Besides, it's not necessarily a confession. They're just saying they'll miss me."
"Yeah, and my first name's Dumbass."
"Didn't want to be the one to tell you, but in reality everybody thinks that you're a d-"
Kuroo covered the boy's mouth as they entered the gymnasium, sighing before whistling to get his team together. It wasn't long before the team gathered together in a circle and awaited orders, all of them looking surprised when Kuroo suddenly shoved his hand into Yaku's pocket.
The libero flinched at the sudden contact and felt his cheeks heat up when seeing the letter in his friend's hand, knowing exactly what to expect.
"Yaku over here got a letter, and we're sure it's one of you. Anyone who wants to own up right now?"
The boys awkwardly eyed each other to figure out who did it, until Kenma sighed and pointed at Lev. "Probably his. I remembed him asking me to help him with something."
Lev faked a gasp and clenched his fists, "K-Kenma?!"
Yaku's features softened, "So it is yours. You could've just told me that you'd be missing me..."
He nervously scratched the back of his neck, blushing sightly as he tried to avoid meeting anyone's gaze.
Kuroo faked a gag and pushed the two teens out of the gym, telling them to return when they were done talking.
Yaku rubbed his back when he was outside, shooting a glare at his fellow third year. "Geesh, for a guy with a thing for Kenma he sure has a some nerve."
Lev laughed at the joke but stopped when Yaku looked at him, his eyes sparkling with something more than he wanted.
"Anyways, back to the letter... Did you really think I'd forget the memories we made?"
Lev blushed at the idea and shook his head frantically, "N-No! Not at all, Yaku-san! I just- I-I... I really want you to stay with me, Yaku-san!"
The Russian immediately covered his mouth after realizing what he just said but removed them soon after, realizing it was something he didn't have to be ashamed for. He was planning on telling the upperclassman regardless, so why hide it any longer?
Yaku sighed and delivered a roundhouse kick, smiling soon after as he ruffled the boy's hair now that he was below his eyelevel. "You could've just said so, idiot. It's not like I want to leave you or anything."
Lev was filled with a little bit of hope as he got up, rubbing the kicked area softly. "Will you still come to watch us play?"
Yaku tilted his head as a breeze set in, shivering a little as he spoke. "What kind of idiotic question is that? Of course I will. Did you really think I'd leave you guys so soon?"
"No, but I was just hoping you'd... You know, encourage me and such."
Yaku rolled his eyes with a smile and grabbed Lev by his collar, kissing his lips before walking away. "How was that for encouragement?"
"Y-Yaku-san...!"
Lev grabbed Yaku's wrist and stopped him from leaving, pulling him in for a hug slowly.
"What's the problem?"
"Please... P-Please don't leave me yet."
