If there was anything Miss {L/N} and Miss Sawamura had in common, it's that they loved organizing play dates for their children. The two mothers had been close friends ever since they graduated from college, and they stayed in contact ever since.
When Miss Sawamura mentioned she was pregnant, Miss {L/N} was excited to share that she was, in fact, expecting too. About nine months later, the first child was born – a boy, going by the name of Sawamura Daichi.
Another two months passed, and then the second child was brought to earth – a girl this time, named {L/N} {F/N}.
{F/N}'s father tried his hardest to keep up with his wife and child, but trying to combine his work and keep his responsibilities at home was too much for him to handle. He and his wife slowly began to drift apart, and when it was official they were splitting up, Miss {L/N} had a complete breakdown.
Daichi's mother thought it was terrible and allowed for Miss {L/N} to drop {F/N} off at their place as soon as the other mother had found a job, so that the young child wouldn't be alone and the mother wouldn't have to worry about {F/N}.
Miss {L/N} gladly took this opportunity, and this continued until she had a stable income – meaning she could drop her days of work in the weekend and would be able to spend quality time with her daughter.
A few weeks later, the two parents organized a play date, and this was such a success that they continued on with it once a week. Today wasn't any different, and the two young children sat on a blanket in the grass whilst their mothers sat back and talked.
Daichi found a lollypop and removed the wrapper, getting ready to stick it in his mouth if not for realizing {F/N} didn't have one. He caught her looking at it and smile before turning her head away, leaving the boy himself unable to not smile himself.
"Here," He said, "You can have it."
He extended his hand and held out the lollipop to her, which she then refused to accept.
"It's yours!"
"And now it's yours."
The girl knew there was no arguing with him and stuck it in her mouth, grabbing her favorite plush and handing it to him with a smile. "Then you get to play with this!"
"But it's your favorite, isn't it?"
"And now it's yours."
The two mothers tilted their heads as they silently watched their kids, stifling a few laughs whenever the kids would do something cute.
Daichi looked around and found his bag of marbles, knowing how crazy {F/N} was for the shiny objects. "Then you can have these."
{F/N} wanted to repay him and grabbed her toy car, putting it down in front of him and showing him yet another smile. "Then this one is for you."
"Take this then."
"I want you to have this."
"Here."
"Take it."
Daichi's mother pointed a finger at them and wondered what to do, not sure whether she should interfere or not. "Do we stop them?"
Miss {L/N} laughed, "I'm sure it's fine! They always do this, don't they?"
"That's true."
Daichi crawled away from the girl and eventually stood up and reached his mom, pulling her wedding ring from her finger before running back to {F/N} with a big smile. "Then have this!"
Miss Sawamura was shocked that her son simply took her ring and left, but couldn't help but laugh when he gave it to {F/N}. "I can't wait to tell him this when he's older."
"I think both of them would be flustered at the thought!"
"I know, right?!"
The two of them laughed at the idea until the two children stopped in front of them, hands in each other's like they were taught in school whenever they had to cross a road or something of the sort.
"What is it, sweetie?" Miss {L/N} asked, messing with her daughter's hair in the process.
"Can we get ice cream? I ran out of things to give to Daichi..."
Miss Sawamura laughed and whispered to her friend, "I think her love already means a lot to him!"
The mother laughed in reply and waved it off, having an idea in mind and looking forward to executing it. "We can get some if you answer a question for me."
"Ask away!"
"Are you and Daichi going to marry when you're older?"
She knew it was a stupid thing to ask since they were still young, but it could still result in a little laugh and an embarrassing story to tell as time ticked away.
"Of course I am!" {F/N} replied, puffing her cheeks as she looked away from her mother. "You always tell me to marry my best friend, so that's what I will do. I always listen to mommy!"
"Now don't exaggerate, dear..."
"Exagge-what?"
"Never mind. Let's get some ice cream, okay?"
The children cheered and ran ahead, leaving the two mothers to talk in the dust. "That's your daughter for you!"
"And soon it's also yours..."
