33dtl is going to be published in paperback and ebook format, April 17th 2017, so these three chapters you are about to read are only a sneak peek into the story. I took down the rest due to my publishing agreements!

Enjoy! :)

______________

"Good morning Crescentburg and thank you for tuning into Radio Boy. I'm your host Ben and today we're going to shout out new trends like denim hair, take complaints about snapchat, and listen to some beats that might pump you up for hell-- I mean school. This first jam we're bringing to you is 'I Love It' by Icona Pop, don't be afraid to dance in your underwear to this one."

I then sat back and pressed start on the song as I rested my hands behind my head.

There's a lot of tough jobs a teenager like me could be doing-- waiting tables, working a cash register, helping build something, shelving stuff but instead I had the coolest job a kid like me could ask for.

A radio talk show host.

My friend Luke's dad ran the local radio station and when their morning host retired unexpectedly Luke volunteered me as a temporary replacement. Within a week though I was more of a permanent addition.

Turns out I had a gift for smooth one-liners, cracking jokes on the spot, and keeping people interested enough to keep the radio on. Thanks to that I get paid a hundred bucks a day to sit in a chair and act like myself for an hour.

Pretty surreal huh?

It gets better though!

Because I was such a good host, I kind of became a town celebrity and that got me instant popularity in school without breaking a sweat. All I had to do was sit there and look pretty.

Sometimes though I'd roll into school on a skateboard or strut around in a weird hat just to get a little extra attention but I really didn't have to.

When your popular it definitely makes life easier. It feels like you have everyone on your side, even the people you never talk to and the people who hate you are obviously just jealous. With status it's easier to win things that require a vote, you can get away with being a trouble maker and don't get me started on the girls. Before this job they wouldn't even glance my way and now I got plenty of attention without making the effort, which was good because pretty girls made me so nervous I'd act all creepy and awkward. Now they did most of the work. You can also say pretty much whatever you want, and get away with it because everyone was blinded by your status and desperate to be your friend. That certainly put a lot of suck ups around me.

Once the song finished I then tuned back in so the listeners could hear me.

"I hope you guys loved that as much as I did and that you've got your cellphones ready because it's time to stop the music and answer some calls about snapchat. First caller wins a free T-shirt and a coupon for a free pizza at Eatology."

I then sat back once more and waited for the station phone to go off. Within a moment it began to beep and with a grin I answered it.

"Congratulations you're the first caller meaning you win-"

I was then cut off abruptly though by the one person who made popularity suck,

"BEN! Beeeeeeen! Why aren't you calling me back? This is embarrassing that I have to call you on public radio. Do you think your funny?"

my psychotic ex-girlfriend Victoria.

Better known as Icky Vicky by Luke.

She was the first hot girl who showed an interest in me when I started my radio show and I didn't dare pass up the chance to be her boyfriend. Three months later I broke up with her because she was insane. Unfortunately though she had yet to learn the definition of break up and acted like we were still dating. She was obsessed with me.
