We didn't end up winning the superhero run.

Half way through the second lap we all were gasping for breath and spent the rest of the run speed walking while making a pack to start working out together. I think everyone forgot about that pact by the end of the run.

Afterwards we all decided to go to Eatology anyways even though we didn't win the gift card and celebrate our successful ten laps with a supreme pizza that destroyed any benefit we momentarily gained from the workout. After we all demolished it mercilessly we all went home to get changed into more comfortable clothes and all met back up at Gene's house to discuss our set list for the party.

While I was home I inquired about Lucy coming to New York with us this weekend but my dad just said the adults were in the process of discussing it and not to worry about it right now. Even though I was one to press for details I decided to forget about it for the night and just focus on our current mission.

We all had originally planned to just stay at Gene's house until midnight the latest but we all ended up falling asleep in random places around her bedroom. Gene and Lucy on the bed, Andrew and Rodney on the floor, Leopold on her pile of stuffed animals and I passed out in her desk chair.

Somewhere in the middle of the night I moved to the stuffed animal pile with Leopold though because that was much more comfortable.

I think we would have all slept the entire morning if Gene's mom hadn't woken us all back to inform us she had called our parents to tell them we fell asleep and to ask if we wanted breakfast. After breakfast we hit the notebooks again and soon had enough songs planned to last about an hour. Believing that to be good enough we all went home to get ready for the party and sleep a little bit more.

Now, who knows how many hours later, I was waiting outside of Lucy's house to pick her up and take her to the party while Andrew messed around on his phone in the back.

"Why does it take girls so long to get ready?" He asked and I shrugged.

"They have a lot more to do then boys I guess," I said as I drummed my fingers on the steering wheel.

"They wouldn't if they weren't so picky." Andrew mumbled.

"Oh c'mon Drew cut them some slack, we don't have to put on make up." I laughed. I could tell Andrew was completely on edge about tonight and I think the silence that kept consuming us in the car was making him uncomfortable. Anxious people liked there to be small talk to forget they were nervous.

Fortunately for him Lucy came out a moment after our short conversation and she looked gorgeous. Tonight she had curled the ends of her hair and put on a grey and white shirt that hung beautifully off her shoulder. Grinning I jumped out of my car with a whistle.

"I didn't know I was picking up a hot mess tonight," I said playfully and Lucy rolled her eyes at me as she shoved my shoulder.

"Be a gentleman Benjamin." She warned as she walked around to the passengers side. Quickly I skipped ahead of her so I could open the door for her.

"Alright alright. You look ravishing tonight Lu." I smiled cutely, just earning another eye roll as she slipped into the car. Once I was sure she was safely inside I shut the door and got back inside.

On the drive there I badly wanted to gawk at her and talk but traffic was bad so I had to focus on getting them there safely while Andrew asked Lucy what kind of shirts she had made for us. Willingly she unzipped the backpack she had brought with her and tossed one to Andrew.

I wasn't stupid enough to look back at it but I could tell it was good by Andrew's gasp of excitement. Since yesterday we had been trying to convince Lucy to perform with us but she insisted that she was happier designing shirts for us so gradually we dropped it.
