The rest of homeroom I left Lucy alone for the most part but couldn't help leaning over every now and then and making a little side comment. After homeroom I once again opened the door for her, and then walked with her to her first period before heading to my own.

I didn't hold back talking to her, but Lucy was still silent for the most part. If she didn't regret coming to check on me last night she definitely did now. I saw that as a positive sign though, her coming to make sure I was okay told me I was doing something right.

Once we parted ways I made my way to first period. I was looking forward to making a list of things I could incorporate into phase two, all while ignoring the math lesson of the day. I owned a scientific calculator and there were nerds for hire, I didn't need to waste my time with complicated math when I could be enjoying my childhood. I had barely sat down in my seat though when everyone went into an uproar about the party.

"Hey! It's Ben!"

"Great job entertaining the party man!"

"I had no clue you could sing so well!"

"Are you going to be playing Jake's next party?"

They all said in a rush of madness, making my head spin. I pretty much dropped out of the party after getting knocked out by Gene, and we left only an hour after my encounter with Lucy so I never really got to hear what people thought of our attempt to save the party. It was a relief to know they didn't think we sucked or that Rodney was odd. Or maybe his odd personality was what made him loveable.

I only got to talk about the party with everyone for a moment though before class began and everyone backed down as notebooks were opened and we began to learn.

Well, they did, I started to recollect everything I had read from the diary and write it down with a list of solutions.

The one that had bugged me the most from the diary was about the boy in her art class.

According to her entries, he eventually did notice her. They worked on an art project together and eventually became friends. He had an eccentric, hood art style and hers was an eccentric other worldly type that reflected society.

They drew together all the time and soon had fallen in love. For their first date he took her to see the circus. It went wonderfully and they became exclusive. That was when he became abusive. First it just seemed like he was overprotective but then he became possessive and controlling, then one day when she didn't go along with it he hit her.

She forgave him.

He did it again.

She forgave him.

He told her he was screwed up and tried to be better, so she stayed.

Then after treating her cruelly he dumped her for another girl.

Badly I wish she had written down his name because I wanted to mercilessly hit the guy ten times more then he hit her. As if this poor girl didn't have enough to deal with, she had family problems at home, the few friends she had stabbed her in the back and just the list went on and on.

I didn't blame her for not trusting me, especially since I was on that list.

I swear on my last breath I was going to fight to the death to atone for my actions in the bathroom that day. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't do everything I could for her. I believe we were put on this earth for each other--to help, to love, to care and most people lost sight of that in the reflection of their smart phone and self-absorbed tendencies.

The ones who still cared?

They were the ones so brutally broken by this world like Lucy and secretly praying for a ray of hope. I just hoped I was bright enough for Lucy to reconsider leaving.

By the time math class ended my pencil was worn out and my paper was full. I hadn't heard a word of the lesson and I didn't really care to be frank. I just hurried off to second period, English class, quite eager to talk to Andrew about phase two and get his advice on where to go.

I knew I wanted Lucy to sit with us and I knew I wanted to try harder to be her friend but I wasn't sure what was most urgent after that.

"Hey Drew," I said once I saw him and Andrew turned to me quickly. He was disheveled looking, yet bright with excitement.

"Ben! I've had like ten people come to me about the party, everyone is talking about us singing and some people put it on YouTube!" He said excitedly. At that I made a surprised face as I sat down.

"Really? I had everyone in my first period come to me about it. I guess that's how word got out," I said. Okay, so I guess people really really liked our performance even though it wasn't even half as cool as sodaplosion.

"Rodney told me that everyone from the party has been approaching him about it this morning to. I've never heard of upperclassmen approaching him with good intentions." He gushed, clearly excited about the feedback.

I didn't blame him; the amount of feedback was shocking.

It was cool seeing Andrew so excited though and it made me feel good that he and Rodney got to have their moment. Everyone deserved their moment in high school that you can look back on no matter what and be happy about.

"Looks like you and Rodney are going to be my party squad." I smiled as I looked down at me list and sighed a little before folding it up and putting it in my pocket.

I wasn't going to ruin Andrew's joy right now with my problems, that'd be unfair to damper his moment.

I always impress myself when I make it to the twentieth chapter of a story because that means I actually am carrying out the story idea somewhat successfully so far and it helps my work ethic lol. Its also nice to have two days in a row off! Today and tomorrow are going to be about relaxing, writing, and watching Netflix. No worries about work and school. What are you all planning on doing this weekend?
