By the time Leopold had dropped Lucy off at home and I walked her to the door, I was calm enough to take over and I drove him home before heading home myself.

I thought I'd be up all night in rage over the whole situation with Jamie but by the instant my head hit the pillow I passed out, exhausted from the emotional night. I was in a pretty deep sleep the entire night and probably would've been most of the day if Rachel didn't shake me awake.

"Ben...Ben its time to get up..." She whispered and I groaned as I rolled away from her.

"Why?" I mumbled.

"Because we're leaving for New York in an hour and you still need to pack. C'mon, I have to be in the city before two and we still need to pick up Lucy." Rachel urged as she shook me again, harder this time. At the sound of Lucy's name I was suddenly very much awake.

"Wait...wait...pick Lucy up?" I asked in confusion as I weakly pushed my aching body up.

"Yeah, didn't she tell you? Oscar said she could go. Turns out her mom and our mom work in the same office and their good friends at work." She informed, looking genuinely surprised I didn't know. The phone call, that must have been Oscar calling to tell her she could go, it had to be.

I guess Lucy forgot to tell me in all the madness that unfolded last night. At the announcement though she was going I felt a rush of excitement go through me and completely wake me up.

"I guess she forgot, we were busy last night," I said as I stood up before stumbling over to my closet to grab my backpack.

"Busy hmm?" Rachel asked, a smirk appearing on her face and I threw the nearest soft object at her.

"Not that kind of busy! Get out Rachel, I have to pack!" Still smirking, Rachel made kissy sounds as she skipped out of the room before I could throw something heavier at her.

While Rachel wasn't totally wrong with her suspicions, I hadn't been referring to the kiss Lucy and I shared last night. Gosh I wish that was the only thing that had happened last night. Just the thought of Jamie's threat made my fists uncontrollably clench as I grabbed some clothes out of my drawers to pack.

I was glad Oscar was letting Lucy go to New York, I felt better about going hours away because I'd have an easier time keeping her safe if she was next to me. Also I was excited to spend some time with her away from our nosy friends and school. I felt like we both had a lot to talk about, last nights kiss included.

While I was happy it had happened, I was confused because I wasn't sure what it meant. I doubted we were officially an item but we were definitely more then friends after that. At least I hoped we were because I most certainly didn't want to just be her friend Ben.

Sighing heavily I tossed my packed bag on the counter and looked up at the calendar. Seventeen days left. There were seventeen days left until the date she had chosen to end it all and I could only hope that in the past sixteen days I had made some kind of progress. It terrified me to think I hadn't but I was pretty sure I did.

Still though, like a giant clock counting down, the calendar stared back at me and burned its image in my mind. And I probably would've let it continue to burn its image in my mind if Rachel hadn't let herself into my room again.

"Hey Ben, your friend Gene is here to see you," She said, completely catching me by surprise.

Why was Gene here?

"Oh...um...okay...send her up..." I frowned as I looked away from the calendar and turned towards the mirror to fix my hair so I wouldn't look like a train wreck. A moment later Gene came into my room, looking exhausted and like she was bearing bad news. "Hey, what brings you by so early?" I asked and she pushed her glasses back up her nose as she shut the door.
