33 Days To Live (Under Revision)

When I saw Oscar I knew I had two options.

One, I'd send Lucy to talk to him and to convince him to let us dim the lights. Two, I'd be a man and go talk to him myself. Option one seemed so easy but I decided to go with option two because I didn't want to put Lucy in an awkward position in front of the others, especially since they didn't know he was her step-dad.

"I'll be right back," I said to Andrew and everyone shared worried glances as I made my way across the cafeteria and over to the school counselor.

It may not sound all that scary but the entire walk over my heart was beating faster then a speeding train while I tried to remind myself that I was good at convincing people to do things. Then again, I had never tried my particular skill set on an adult and the one time I tried it on my parents it didn't work. Adults weren't as stupid as kids, so I was going to have to approach this situation carefully.

"Hey Oscar," I said upon approaching him and he looked over at me in surprise.

"Hey Ben, hows it going?" He asked and I stuffed my hands in my pockets with a shrug.

"Its going well, how about you?"

this seemed to be going okay so far, starting off the conversation very causal and adult like, good move Ben.

"I'm good." Oscar then raised an eyebrow as he leaned back against the wall. "What did you need to talk to me about?" He then asked, catching me by surprise.

"Oh...umm...what makes you think that?" I asked. He just gave me a look and I smiled as innocently as possible.

"I need to dim the cafeteria lights for a charity thing my friend Rodney wants to do, do you mind?" I asked, gesturing to the light switch. At that Oscar stood up straight.

"Do you guys have permission from the principal?" He asked. I didn't even bother asking for a moment to ask Rodney because I knew for sure that idiot didn't ask the principal.

"Um...sort of..." I mumbled and Oscar shook his head.

"I'm sorry, I can't turn off the lights without permission from the principal. What are you guys doing anyways?" He asked.

There were two ways I could've handled the situation from that point on. One, I could have explained the situation then asked if I could be excused to go talk to the principal real quick, or two I could've tried to bribe Oscar with a twenty. Either or would've been better then the unspoken option I decided to go with.

"Oh...well..." I then shot past Oscar and quickly turned down the light switch knob before yanking it off and making a run for it. Just to clarify I didn't break it, I borrowed it and it could easily be put back. Thank goodness the light switch was the knobby kind you had to spin.

"Hey! Ben! Give that back!" Oscar shouted after me as I dashed across the darkened cafeteria.

Pushing past football players, ducking under lunch trays and skidding across lunch tables made me feel like a spy as I dashed towards my table. Fortunately I had lost Oscar in the cafeteria since he couldn't see me very well and the small panic that arose from the lights going out made it hard to be a full grown adult and navigate through the crowd of teenagers.

"Rodney you better hit it now, or I'm going to school jail!" I yelled once I approached the table and he nodded as he grabbed his mic.

"Attention ladies and gentlemen, this performance is brought to you by Radio Boy and the Fusions, if you like what you hear put some money in the bucket to support our cheerleaders!" He announced into the mic, getting the whole cafeterias attention. He then hit play on the music just as I grabbed my mic and climbed up on the table.

The song Rodney had selected was fortunately one of my favorite gamer songs, Do or Die by 3OH3!

"We on three nights and no sleep, Row with those who know me, We chilling I'm so high, Yeah you can find us in the nose bleeds," Rodney started singing and Leopold jumped in when the second verse began.

"Fresh kicks and yes its a diamond on both feet, We living like we don't care what tomorrow's gonna be, Everybody in this place is either blind, Or gonna see that everything I need is right in front of me," I then stood up tall on the table to sing the bridge.

"So throw your phone away and let the night decide, Cause when the sun goes down you better pick a side."

We all then did the coolest, unplanned jump off the table ever to sing the main chorus together.

"Cause baby its do or die, baby its do or die!" We sang and the crowd began cheering as the main chorus's music played.

Then that magical moment happened when the crowd began to bounce up and down excitedly while the teachers tried to push through the crowd to get to us.

"So throw your phone away and let the night decide, Cause when the sun goes down baby its do or die." I sang as I slung an arm around Rodney and we bounced with the crowd.

"Four nights still awake, shakes so bad I need to take one shot for my lady and twenty for those that got away, don't feel bad I'm okay, watch me transform Michael Bay,"

We all then climbed back up onto the table.

"Fanning on the table shouting warriors come out play!" I then stepped up to sing my bridge again as I offered a hand to Lucy to pull her up onto the table with us.

"So throw your phone away and let the night decide, Cause when the sun goes down you better pick a side,"

Much to my surprise, Lucy willingly took my hand and let me pull her up on the table as we sang the main chorus then we all began to dance along with the crowd to the music, which was now so loud thanks to Rodney's amplifier the cafeteria was shaking.

We were going to get in so much trouble for this but for whatever reason I didn't care. I was at peace with having Lucy, Andrew who was now singing, and the others surrounding me as we made ourselves legends at school. This was, borderline, a riot for charity and I was loving every moment of it.

We then reached the climax of the song and the crowd began to sing along with us as it got so impossibly loud in the cafeteria my ears were ringing and my face hurt from smiling as I held fast to Lucy's hand and danced with her. She looked really happy to, her face was bright and I got to see her teeth for the first time her lips were pulled back so wide.

Girls really were prettier when they smiled, especially Lucy.

Suddenly then, the magical moment was ruined when the lights came back on in the cafeteria and one of the teachers that had managed to make it through the crowd unplugged the amplifier making the noise simmer down to whispers as everyone quickly went back to their business like it hadn't happened.

"All of you, to the principals office. Now." The teacher growled and all of us shared worried glances as we climbed off the table. By the time we had all gotten down Oscar made it over, looking pretty ticked off.

Smiling bashfully I held out the light switch.

"Want it back?"

I really need to make them all sing together more because I love writing out their performances! You all had wonderful song suggestions, and I almost used a few until I stumbled across 'Do or Die' and I felt like it suit the chapter better lol.

Also I'd like to dedicate this chapter to @your_daydream10 for taking the time and energy to write a song based off this story! Her voice is beautiful, and I'm obsessed with the song! :D
