After having a long, enlightening discussion with Luke's dad I felt like even with the world crumbling slowly down around us, that maybe the good news about our own radio show would be enough to get Lucy and I through the dark.

So when I finished meeting with Mr. Reynolds I went down to the store instead of to school. My dad had already called them and told them I wasn't coming in until they had resolved the issue and until then they were just going to have to send my work home.

It really was going to be a miracle if I passed my Junior year, things weren't looking good on my part.

I decided not to stress out about that though, instead I focused on going through the store and buying all of Lucy's favorite things. By now Oscar would be at work so I wasn't going to have to worry about dropping by her house. I was going to give her a stuffed frog named Fly, a bag of her favorite candy, a new sketch book and drawing pencils and a Robin Williams movie. Once I had loaded everything into my backpack I hopped in my car and drove to her house.

As expected Oscar's car was gone and as I had hoped her window was opened. Following my usual routine of parking a couple of blocks away, I walked up to her front yard and pulled myself up on the roof. This time it felt a little easier then before, I guess my body was getting use to sneaking into windows.

Well, Lucy's window anyways.

"Lu? Lucy are you here?" I whispered upon climbing through the window. Upon hearing her name, Lucy popped out from under her covers and when she saw me she gasp softly.

"Ben?" She whispered back in disbelief and I smiled softly.

"Hi darling," I said softly as I climbed into the window and the moment my feet hit the ground she jumped up out of bed and crushed me in a hug.

"I thought I was never going to see you again. I missed you so much, I was so scared you were just going to go away, I didn't want you to stay away, Ben I'm so happy your here." She rambled on quickly and I sighed in relief as I wrapped my arms around her tightly.

"I love you Lucy, its going to take a lot more then rumors and an angry parent to keep me away from you." I reassured as I buried my face in her hair.

I was so happy she wanted to see me, I wasn't sure if I could handle her not wanting to. I was happy she still needed me, and I was happy she was still here to need me. I had nightmare after nightmare last night that I was going to lose her. I didn't want to lose Lucy, I never wanted to lose Lucy.

"Are you okay?" I asked after a moment of heavy silence and she shrugged as she pulled away from me and looked down.

"Not really. I don't know how to feel. This is horrible, its so horrible that they'd do this to me, to us." She sighed heavily. "But its okay. I'll be okay, now that your here I think I'll be okay." She decided, making me smile proudly.

"I'm proud of you. I'm proud your not blaming yourself for this and I'm proud your planning on being okay," I said as I then slid off my backpack and held it up. "I got you a couple of presents, just some things to cheer you up. How about you look through here and I'll go to the bathroom and clean up a little. Your roof is dirty and I rather not kiss you until I get all this dirt off my hands." I smiled as I held up my dirt smudged hands.

Laughing she took the backpack and stood up on her tippy toes before giving me a quick kiss.

"Go clean up," She said before walking over to her bed and sitting down so she could go through and find the gifts. Smiling warmly at her, I walked into the bathroom to wash my hands and run my fingers through my hair.

I looked like a mess, a tired walking disaster but the smile Lucy put on my face made me look like I didn't mind being alive even though everything sucked. You only got one life and sometimes it didn't go your way but you had to make the most of it. Today I was going to make the most of mine and Lucy's and even though the situation we were in was horrible.
