Aljaz lay quietly in bed, watching his Janette sleep, in and out, in and out. Her eyes fluttered open, looking into Aljaz's. "Morning princess," Aljaz said. Janette stretched and yawned, "morning baby...how long have you been awake?" Aljaz looked at the clock on his bedside table, "15 minutes ish...not long....I think the kids are playing in their rooms," Aljaz said, propping himself up on 1 elbow, gazing into his wife's big brown eyes, her falling down past her shoulders, the duvet pulled down to her shoulder. "What are you staring at?" She said, propping her self up on her right elbow. Aljaz smiled, "my beautiful wife," he replied. Janette rolled her eyes and kissed his nose. She quickly pulled away, swinging her legs out bed and making a dash for the ensuite where she threw up. Aljaz held her hair back, combing it with his hands. Janette leaned her head against his chest, tilting it back to look him in the face. "I hate morning sickness....whoever invented it deserves to rot in hell," she groaned. "I'll prepare the funeral," Aljaz said, kissing her gently on the mouth. "Breakfast?" Janette nodded and allowed Aljaz to lead her downstairs, only to find Amelia-Lily overseeing the production of Sasa and Leonardo's version of breakfast. All 3 heads turned towards the door as their parents took in the tonnage of food spread across the kitchen....mess... "We wanted to make you breakfast in bed," Amelia-Lily said, chewing her lip, as if she were waiting for them to get mad. "Okay...what were you trying to make?" Janette asked, looking at the variety of foods that were spread across every surface of the kitchen. "Pancakes...but Mils wouldn't let us use the cooker so we are making them without," Sasa said. Janette's eyes widened, "okay....well I'm craving salted peanuts, bananas and ice cream so will take a pass on your absolutely to die for pancakes, but Daddy told me upstairs how much he would love some pancakes right now, so I'm sure he'd happily sit down and eat your pancakes that you so cleverly made without using the cooker, or eggs," Janette said with a smirk on her face. The children's faces lit up and scrapped the runny mess with lumps in (the pancakes) into a bowl and put it firmly on the table ready for Aljaz to sit down and eat. He gave Janette a sarcastic smile as she opened the freezer door to take out the ice cream. "Mummy....why are you eating ice cream for breakfast?" Leonardo asked, Janette sat down at the table opposite her husband, "because your new baby brother or sister wants it, which makes me want it," she answered. Amelia-Lily watched her father eat the gooey mixture, "Daddy that looks gross...you can't honestly like it," Amelia-Lily said with a disgusted look on her face, an eyebrow raised, looking just like her mother. Aljaz shook his head, "no...it's nice...thank you kids," he said, Janette gave him a smile, as if she were saying "I can't believe you actually ate that". Janette stood up from the table, right I think we need to clean up this kitchen though, it looks as if a bomb has hit it," she said, the children sighed, typical....
Janette stood in the mirror looking at her reflection. You could obviously see that she was pregnant, there was no denying it. It being her 4th pregnancy the bump was slightly bigger than when she was 23 weeks with Amelia-Lily. Her eldest daughter sat on the bed cross legged, watching her mother in the mirror. Janette suddenly felt a pain in her lower back and round the front of her bump. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the pain please don't let my baby come this early...please!
"Mum? Mummy are you okay? What's wrong? Should I get Dad?" Amelia-Lily said desperately, worried about her expecting mother. Janette nodded as she tried to focus on her breathing, trying not to let out any screams of pain which she wanted to do more than anything. Amelia-Lily nodded and jumped off the bed, running downstairs, "Dad! Dad! Come quick....Mum needs you, I think her tummy hurts and she's not being sick, she's doing weird breathing....just come quick!" She said, Aljaz ran up the stairs passed his eldest daughter on the stairs, leaving the twins downstairs watching TV. He ran into their bedroom where Janette was sat on the bed, 1 hand on her lower back, the other on her bump, you could see that she was in pain. Aljaz sat next to her, an arm round her back, "Janette? Is it time? Is the baby coming early? Janette?" Janette took a minute to speak, "I don't know...the baby shouldn't be coming yet...I...just...need...to...see...a...doctor...now," she said, wincing in pain. Aljaz nodded, taking her to the top of the stairs, "kids, go next door..,tell Freddie and Sara that we said sorry for the short notice, and that I'll make it up to them later...just go," he said, Janette squeezing his hand. From the neighbour's living room window the children watched their mother get into the car, "where's mummy going?" Sasa asked, Amelia-Lily hesitated, "I think she's having the baby." Leonardo chewed his thumb, "will she be okay?" he asked. "Of course...she had all of us fine," Amelia-Lily reassured her younger siblings.
At the hospital Janette lay on the bed now shouting out in pain as Alexandra checked to see the baby. Aljaz held onto his wife's hand, "what is it? Why is she in so much pain? She can't be in labour yet can she? She's only 23 weeks," Aljaz said, his concern escalating rapidly. "Baby's heart rate has slowed down....we need to get her into surgery, Janette needs an emergency C-section," Alexandra said as she began to wheel Janette's bed out of the room, Aljaz still holding onto her hands as he walked down the corridor alongside her bed. "Aljaz I can't have the baby yet...please tell them...please....I'm scared baby," Janette said, tears beginning to run down her face. "It's going to be okay...you and the baby will be fine, and when you come and out I'll be waiting for you with our child...I love you my princess," he said, kissing her hand as her bed was wheeled off into theatre.
1 hour later Janette's eyes fluttered open. She turned her head looking for her Prince, he was stood by the window holding a newborn baby. "Ali?" Aljaz turned towards her. "Hey princess...how are you feeling?" He asked, approaching her bed. She wriggled up, her stomach feeling slightly sore and tender, "I'm okay...is that...is that...the baby?" She asked trying to take a look at the baby in Aljaz's arms...Aljaz nodded, "we've got a baby daughter...and she's perfect, 10 little toes, 10 little fingers, 2 big brown eyes like her mummy, a little button nose, and a cherub little mouth," Aljaz said, the baby grasped her little hand onto her Daddy's finger. "Can I hold her?" Janette asked, trying to push up to get a better look at her new daughter. Aljaz nodded and placed the baby into her mother's arms. The baby looked up at her mother, reaching her little hand up to Janette's face. Janette gently kissed it. "Oh bučko, she's perfect...she's like a little Angel." Aljaz smiled, "our Angel Delight."
