Addison's POV
"What's your name?" The woman at the front desk asked me once officer Collins and left."Addison Skylar Haile." I answered. Aside from all of the screaming children, the foster care facility didn't look too bad. However, growing up where i did, that's not saying much.
"Birthday?" She asked.
"August 4th, 2002."
"Blood type?"
I sighed, "How in gods name am i supposed to know??"
She nodded, "Okay, you can go in. Don't cause any trouble please, I'm not in the mood for another trip to the hospital."
"Uhh okay..." I said and i walked into the room with a bunch of people in it. There was a bunch of babies and toddlers but even more teenagers. I was approached by some slightly intimidating and very tall teenagers, two girls and one boy. They looked about 15.
"Hey. You the new kid?" The boy asked.
"How could you tell?" I asked sarcastically.
"You better watch your attitude, shortie." The brunette girl said, crossing her arms.
...Did she really just call me shortie?? News flash, this is the 21st century.
"Molly, back off. She's obviously uncomfortable so shut your bitchy mouth for a minute so she can adjust." The other girl, Sophie, groaned at her.
"Shut the fuck up Sophie. I'm just trying to have a conversation." Molly answered.
I sighed loudly, turned around, and walked away before they could say anything else. I've never been very good around brats, they annoy me so much.
"Hey i was talking to you!" Molly said, grabbing my shoulder.
"...That's why i walked away." I mumbled. Why do i have to be such a sassy person???
Sophie laughed, "I like this one. Bye bitches." She said, and she grabbed me and pulled me away from them.
"Um can i help you?" I asked.
She sat down on the couch and said, "You might as well stop the 'I'm a hardcore bitch that doesn't care about anything or anyone' act. I'm not buying it."
I sighed yet again, "And here i thought that i had everyone fooled." And i sat down next to her.
She snorted, "Not even close, hun. So what's your name?"
"Addison Haile."
"Fancy name. Anyways, you probably should learn how to develop a filter, you're gonna need one here."
I smirked at her, "I need to develop a filter? You're the one that called them bitches, not me."
She rolled her eyes, "Yeah yeah. I've been here for a while, and i, unlike yourself, can actually pull of the 'I'm a hardcore bitch that doesn't care about anything or anyone' act. Most of the older kids are scared of me, so i don't cause too much trouble. But with your attitude, you're not gonna last very long here."
I rolled my eyes right back at her, "Thanks. Really appreciate it."
"Yo, at least I'm being truthful. And you're welcome, by the way."
"Um...thanks?" I asked.
"If it weren't for me, you would probably be mush right now. Molly makes Daniel beat up most of the newcomers that have more attitude than they do brains."
I laughed and shook my head, "Yeah... that wouldn't happen."
She glared at me, "I told you to stop with the act. But seriously. You need a filter, unless you have a death wish of course."
"Why?? If I'm around you, no one will mess with me, right?" I asked.
"That's true. I can protect you from the kids, but i can't protect you from the 'caretakers'." She answered, frowning a little.
"The caretakers?"
She looked down sadly, "Lets just say, don't give them any attitude. They're very violent people. " I looked at her curiously, and she sighed and lifted her shirt up to her ribcage. She was covered in bruises.
She blinked a few times, but she refused to cry. "They'll beat the attitude right out of you."
