Cali's POV
"SHE WAS RIGHT THERE, AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO APPROACH THEM. WHAT THE FUCK ARE ALL OF YOU DOING HERE IF YOU'RE NOT HERE TO GET MY SISTER NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES??? I TOOK A BULLET, AND NONE OF YOU GREW THE BALLS TO CHASE THAT VAN. THAT IS MY SISTER. YOU GUYS ARE POLICE, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE GOOD GUYS, WHY DID YOU LET THEM TAKE HER AGAIN?" I screamed at everyone was I attempted to walk to the police cars. I started sobbing as I said that last sentence.
She was so close, and they didn't do anything. Okay, they did. But its not enough. She was so close to being safe.
One of them answered, "Cali, calm down. We're doing the best----"
"Don't you dare finish that goddamn sentence, or I'll slit your fucking throat. She's 13 years old, she shouldn't be going through this. If this is the best you can do, then we're in trouble." I interrupted, trying to stop crying.
He backed up, and Officer Collins stepped forward. "Cali, we're going to get her. We have back up following them. We'll get her." He reassured me.
Sophie nodded at me, and I hugged her. She was shaking so much I thought she was going to faint.
"Alright everyone, we'll call if we need you. Until then, rest and try to cool off." Collins ordered. Sophie and I climbed into his car and rode hospital.
"I think you went a bit overboard Cali.." He mumbled when we got into the car.
I shot a glare at him, "No such thing. Someone had to yell at them. That's what I'm here for. Not for dealing with everyone's bullshit. I don't care if I hurt their feelings, they'll get over it. My sister won't, she's going to be scarred for the rest of her life." My stomach throbbed with pain and I grimaced. "Drive faster please, before I start screaming in pain. And yes, that's a warning."
When we finally arrived, I got an x-ray and they said that I had a laceration and I needed stitches and pain meds. However, then they saw my file and decided against the pain meds for obvious reasons, which really sucked.
When I was in the hospital bed, I asked "Collins, why aren't you going after my sister?"
He sighed, "That guy that took her said he liked you too. I'm not gonna let you get kidnapped too."
Then, I had an idea. The best idea I've ever had. "If I said that I could get Addy back, would you support me?"
"Depends on how you're getting her back."
I took a deep breath, "A trade."
He shook his head, "No. Absolutely not."
"Please. I don't care about myself, I've been wanting to die for years now. I care about Addy. If he lets her go and takes me, then she'll be free to live her life the way she should." I pleaded. It was a good idea, and he had to consider it.
"No. Drop it, it's not happening."
Well shit. Then Sophie came in and sat next to me, "Hey, how are you doing?"
"Pretty bad. Collins isn't being reasonable and its pissing me off." I answered, grumpily.
"Well...." she started, "I have some need that will definitely make you feel better."
"Well spit it out."
"They have another lead on Addison."
I smiled and got out of bed, "Great. Let's go."
