Esme's POV
"Mason, I can't believe you're here!" I exclaimed as i led him to the hallway. The nurses gave me a weird look, but for once, they kept their mouths shut."Well believe it. I'm never leaving you again." He whispered, hugging me yet again.
I smiled, "Good. I'm still pissed at you though, just so you know." I teased.
"Yeah yeah. So how's it going in this place? Is anyone giving you any trouble?" He asked. Buu uu6
"Its fine. No, not really. I don't talk to many people, other than my friends of course."
He snorted, "Your friends? You mean the freaks that I met last time?"
I glared at him, "They're not freaks." I said, defensively.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that..." he said. "So when are you getting out of here?" He asked.
I sighed, "I wish I knew. Hopefully soon." I answered.
He nodded, "I have to get going. I'm sorry, I'll see you soon, okay?" He kissed me on the head and walked back to security, and then waved at me before he walked out the door.
I sighed and walked back into the cafeteria. When I sat next to Cali, she smirked at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing..."
"Cali. Tell me now."
She laughed and shook her head, "Listen, we may be pretty fucked up, but we are NOT freaks. If your little boyfriend says something like that ever again, I'm gonna hurt him." She growled.
I couldn't help but laugh. "You hurt him? You've got it backwards. You would be the one that would be hurt."
"Don't underestimate me." She said, getting up and walking back to the room.
She had absolutely no right to be upset with me. She scared the living shit out of me last night, and now she decided that its okay to be mad at me, even though i did nothing wrong. Last night, for the first time, i was actually afraid of someone in the Asylum. And of course, it was my best friend. I don't know what possessed her to day those things, but it scared the shit out of me.
I walked back to the room, and she was laying on the floor. I sighed and laid next to her. "You know, i defended you when he called you guys freaks." I said quietly.
"I heard that too. I also heard that you wanted to leave the asylum soon. And honestly, I'm jealous." She answered.
"What?! Why would you be jealous of me?" I asked.
"Because you're going to get to leave in a few weeks for good behavior. I saw the doctor's reports." She said sadly.
I didn't know if i was relieved, or disappointed. "But... I thought that i was gonna be kept here for a few more months."
"Nope. One of the nurses really likes you apparently and put in a good word." She answered.
I sighed, "I'm sorry.. i know how much you want to get out of here."
She shook her head, "No. I'm happy for you. Its good that you're getting out. I just wish that i could go too."
"Why can't you? You could start taking your meds on time and without arguing, you could be nicer to the nurses, you COULD get out of here." I exclaimed.
She snorted, "Yeah right. I can dream."
"You could get out, you're just too stubborn and thick to realize it." I mumbled.
She sighed, "You don't understand Esme, and you never will. Please stop talking about it."
"Cali, you're so stupid, oh my god. I do understand, because we're going through the same---" I said, but she interrupted me.
"ESME. DROP IT." She yelled.
I cringed a little when she yelled at me. I noticed that she was shaking more than i was. "What aren't you telling me, Cal?"
She sighed loudly and walked out of the room, still shaking. Wow. Drama Queen much?
Whatever. She can live without me. She doesn't need me.
Wait... she said.. Oh my god... Yet again, I had the sentence roll around in my head.
"Someday, you won't be around to stop me."
Oh my god.. she was going to try again when I left...
