Matheus
The next morning, Matheus got ready early.
For some reason, he found himself unusually motivated to personally visit Shine Bright Housekeeping instead of simply transferring the payment online like he normally did.
Of course, he told himself it was because he wanted clarification about Aurora.
Nothing more.
Absolutely nothing more.
Still, the moment he stepped out of the shower and dressed casually in a fitted black shirt and dark jeans, the image of violet-rimmed eyes immediately flashed through his mind again.
Annoying.
Very annoying.
An hour later, his luxury SUV rolled smoothly into the parking lot reserved for Shine Bright clients.
Matheus parked the vehicle and stepped out, briefly observing the building in front of him.
Shine Bright Housekeeping had been operating for more than twenty years, and its success clearly showed.
The four-story building looked modern and well-maintained.
The first floor served as the main office.
The second floor was the training center for new housekeepers.
The third floor contained staff quarters for employees who needed temporary accommodation.
And the fourth floor functioned as an event hall for company celebrations such as birthdays, Christmas parties, and other gatherings.
Professional.
Organized.
Efficient.
No wonder they had maintained his trust for years.
Matheus walked toward the glass entrance and pressed the doorbell beside it.
A soft clicking sound followed immediately.
Permission granted.
He pushed the glass door open and entered.
The familiar scent of freshly brewed coffee and lemon-scented cleaner greeted him.
Behind the reception desk sat the cheerful secretary he vaguely remembered from previous transactions.
The woman instantly smiled upon seeing him.
"Good morning, Mr. Carvalho!" Olga greeted warmly.
"Good morning," he replied politely. "I came to settle my payment. How much do I owe?"
For a split second, confusion flickered across Olga's face.
It was subtle.
But Matheus noticed it immediately.
As if she had no idea what payment he was referring to.
Still, she recovered quickly and gestured toward the waiting area.
"Please have a seat first, Mr. Carvalho," she said professionally. "I'll check your balance."
Matheus nodded and sat down on one of the leather chairs near the reception desk.
While Olga typed something into the computer, he casually asked,
"Do you happen to know if Aurora is available today?"
The secretary paused mid-typing.
"Aurora?" she repeated slowly.
"Yes," Matheus answered. "The housekeeper assigned to my estate yesterday."
