Matheus
The moment they arrived at the wedding banquet hall, Matheus's eyes instinctively searched the entire room for only one person.
Briar.
He already knew she would be busy.
Very busy.
Still—
just seeing her again somehow gave him energy.
Like exhaustion no longer existed.
Like the long flight, sleepless nights, and endless months of work suddenly became worth it.
She moved gracefully around the reception hall together with her assistant and best friend, occasionally speaking to the crew while making sure everything flowed smoothly.
And honestly?
Watching her work fascinated him.
She looked completely in control.
Elegant.
Confident.
Beautiful.
Meanwhile, his assigned bridesmaid partner, Tanya, had been talking beside him nonstop for several minutes already.
Matheus politely responded when necessary.
One-word answers mostly.
Short replies.
Nothing more.
He could tell the woman was trying to flirt with him.
Unfortunately for her—
his attention belonged somewhere else entirely.
Eventually, Tanya must have sensed his lack of interest because she excused herself moments later and joined another group nearby.
Matheus silently exhaled in relief.
Finally.
Beside him, Lucas suddenly leaned closer and whispered,
"That woman standing beside Briar..."
Matheus glanced sideways at him.
"What about her?"
Lucas subtly nodded toward the elegant woman with long dark hair standing beside Briar.
"I want to know her name."
Matheus almost smirked.
Interesting.
"Ask Briar," he suggested casually. "You said you knew her before."
"I will later," Lucas muttered while still watching the woman.
Before the conversation could continue, Rafael suddenly appeared beside them carrying a champagne glass.
"What exactly are you two whispering about?"
Matheus immediately betrayed Lucas without hesitation.
"He wants to know the name of Briar's friend."
Rafael instantly grinned mischievously.
"Ohhh."
Lucas groaned.
"Don't start."
"Lovestruck already?" Rafael teased dramatically.
Lucas punched his arm immediately.
Rafael laughed loudly before finally answering anyway.
"That's Laly."
He motioned toward the elegant brunette again.
