Briar
After speaking with Olga for almost an hour, Briar and Matheus finally decided to look for a place to have dinner.
The moment they stepped out of the hotel lobby together, Briar felt strangely giddy again.
It still felt unreal.
She had arrived in Rio de Janeiro only a few hours ago—
and somehow, she already had a fiancé.
An incredibly handsome fiancé.
A fiancé who looked at her like she was the best thing that had ever happened to him.
Good Lord.
Just thinking about it made her smile again.
Beside her, Matheus glanced at her curiously.
"You've been smiling to yourself for the last two minutes," he pointed out.
Briar quickly looked away.
"Nothing."
Matheus laughed softly.
"Liar."
Then he gently held her hand while guiding her toward the waiting car.
Honestly?
She liked that.
Liked how natural he acted around her.
Like holding her hand already belonged in his everyday life.
Before they left, Briar quickly called Miguel and informed him that she would meet him and Lora in the morning instead since it was already late.
Miguel only laughed teasingly.
"Enjoy your date night first."
Briar nearly died from embarrassment while Matheus shamelessly grinned beside her.
The restaurant Matheus brought her to overlooked the ocean.
Soft jazz music played quietly in the background while candlelight illuminated the elegant dining area beautifully.
The entire atmosphere felt intimate.
Romantic.
Dangerously romantic.
And unfortunately for Briar—
Matheus looked devastatingly handsome beneath the warm lights.
"How many women have you charmed in places like this?" she asked suspiciously while looking around.
Matheus nearly laughed.
"Jealous already?"
"No," she denied quickly.
Too quickly.
His eyes immediately sparkled with amusement.
"Amada..."
That deep voice again.
"Do you really think I would bring just any woman somewhere special to me?"
Her heartbeat instantly softened.
Somehow—
every word he spoke sounded sincere.
And that terrified her a little.
Because she was falling too fast already.
Dinner itself went smoothly.
Easy conversation.
