Briar
This was her last night in Santa Catarina.
Tomorrow, she would return to Switzerland and continue the busy life waiting for her there.
Lying on her bed, Briar stared quietly at the ceiling while a strange heaviness settled inside her chest.
She would miss this place.
She would miss her grandparents.
Her aunt.
The peaceful mornings in the garden.
The warm weather.
The comforting smell of home.
And somehow...
she would also miss the time she spent in Mr. Carvalho's vacation house.
Even if it had only lasted for three days.
A small embarrassed smile formed on her lips.
She would definitely never forget the moment he carried her in his arms.
Not anytime soon.
Maybe someday the memory would fade.
Maybe.
But right now?
It still felt far too vivid.
The warmth of his chest.
The strength of his arms.
That expensive masculine scent surrounded her while he carried her toward the couch.
Briar groaned softly and buried her face in her pillow.
Why was she even thinking about this again?
She had never reacted this way to any man before.
Not in almost twenty-nine years of existence.
Not even the successful, handsome men she dated in Switzerland had managed to affect her this much.
None of them made her nervous.
None of them made her heart flutter.
None of them made her replay a single moment over and over inside her head like some lovesick teenager.
"Go away," she muttered to her own thoughts.
Unfortunately, her brain ignored her completely.
With a frustrated sigh, she reached for her phone and set her alarm for six in the morning.
Her flight was scheduled at ten, but Briar hated rushing.
She preferred arriving ridiculously early rather than stressing herself at the last minute.
After double-checking her luggage one final time, she looked around her room.
Everything was ready.
Most of her belongings were already packed neatly inside her suitcase.
Only a few clothes remained behind in the wardrobe—mostly night dresses and comfortable outfits she intentionally left at her grandparents' house for future visits.
That way, next time she returned to Brazil, she wouldn't need to overpack again.
Satisfied, she switched off the bedside lamp and forced herself to sleep.
Though honestly...
sleep didn't come easily.
Not when a certain billionaire kept invading her thoughts.
