Briar

Since she didn't get enough sleep before the trip, she slept almost the entire flight.

Even during the stopover, she barely bothered standing up.

Other passengers stretched, looked for coffee, or bought food from nearby cafés.

Meanwhile, Briar remained curled up in her seat half asleep.

At that moment, sleep felt far more important than food.

The nonstop weddings from the past month had completely drained her physically and mentally.

And honestly—

she felt it now.

Every muscle in her body still ached from exhaustion.

So the entire thirteen-hour trip passed in a blur of sleep, airplane announcements, and occasional turbulence.

By the time the plane finally landed in Rio de Janeiro, Briar still looked adorably sleepy.

After grabbing her traveling bag from the overhead compartment, she quietly followed the crowd toward the arrival exit.

Thankfully, she only brought one luggage bag this time.

Much easier.

Much faster.

As she stepped outside the arrival area—

"Briar!"

A familiar masculine voice called her name loudly.

Briar immediately looked around in confusion.

Then suddenly—

her breath caught.

"Matheus?"

For several seconds she genuinely thought exhaustion was making her hallucinate.

Because standing several feet away from her—

looking ridiculously handsome in casual clothes while staring at her like she was the only person inside the entire airport—

was Matheus Carvalho.

He walked toward her immediately.

And somehow—

her heartbeat completely lost control again.

"What are you doing here?" she asked breathlessly.

Matheus looked completely calm.

"Picking you up."

As if that answer made perfect sense.

Before Briar could even recover properly from the shock, Matheus gently took her travel bag from her hand.

Then his fingers wrapped naturally around hers.

Warm.

Firm.

Comforting.

"But who asked you to pick me up?" she asked again, still confused.

"Myself," he answered simply.

And honestly—

that answer somehow made her heart flutter harder.

Then suddenly another familiar voice interrupted nearby.

"Briar!"

Miguel.

Briar turned immediately and saw Miguel approaching quickly, together with a beautiful brunette woman beside him.
