Briar

She became genuinely excited the moment one of her crew members approached her and informed her that someone named Miguel was waiting outside.

Miguel.

Her best friend.

Without wasting another second, Briar immediately hurried toward the entrance.

The moment she stepped outside and saw the familiar tall figure standing beneath the soft lights near the parking area, happiness instantly exploded inside her chest.

"Miguel!" she called out excitedly while running toward him.

The moment Miguel heard her voice, he turned around immediately.

And just like always—

his face lit up with that same familiar smile she had known since childhood.

"Bri!" he shouted back.

He ran toward her too.

And seconds later—

Miguel scooped her into his arms and spun her around dramatically.

Both of them burst into laughter instantly.

Honestly, some things never changed.

Miguel had always been this affectionate with her ever since they were children.

"I missed you!" Miguel exclaimed while finally putting her down carefully.

"I missed you too," Briar replied warmly.

Miguel stepped back slightly and cupped her face between his hands while studying her dramatically.

"You got prettier," he announced seriously.

Then he narrowed his eyes playfully.

"Way prettier than when we were teenagers."

Briar laughed softly.

"And you got more handsome too."

Miguel proudly fixed his suit jacket.

"I know."

That instantly made Briar laugh harder.

Still the same Miguel.

Confident.

Funny.

Warmhearted.

"Seriously though," she continued afterward, "how did you even know I was here tonight?"

"I went to your parents' house first," Miguel explained casually.

Then he shook his head dramatically.

"I nearly lost my mind when your mother told me THE Briar Friedmann—the famous wedding planner everyone talks about—is my best friend."

Briar groaned softly.

"Mom exaggerates."

"No she doesn't," Miguel argued immediately.

Then he looked around the elegant wedding venue admiringly.

"This place is incredible."

His eyes softened proudly while looking back at her.

"You really built something amazing for yourself."

Briar smiled quietly.

Compliments about her work always meant more when they came from people who truly knew her journey.
