I actually wasn't a big fan of this one. I thought people were just trying to hate on Astrid by shipping Hiccup with someone else, who is actually A LOT LIKE ASTRID. All of these Mericcup lovers that would hate on Hiccstrid got on my nerves, entirely because both ships were extremely similar and it wasn't fair that you were just breaking Hiccstrid up for some ship that's almost the same.
But as I started to see more of this ship, I realized that there was something Hiccstrid didn't have. And it was the Romeo and Juliet story line that even if done to death I still love it. Like there was a time where the Vikings and the Scottish were at war, and it just seemed a lot like Merida to say 'Screw everyone' and end up dating the enemy instead of any of her suitors. I also liked the idea that they would actually become friends first and then lovers, and having the whole 'us against the world' friendship. They also have a lot of similarities as well, more than Hiccup and Astrid do, like how they're judged by their parents for not being the kids they want them to be.
Overall, I definitely ship it. Not as much as say Jarida or Hiccstrid, but it's actually pretty close.
