This is one of the only 5 things I liked in How To Train Your Dragon. I hated everything else.

Why are so many people against this? Because it's canon? This is a billion times better than Eugenzel and that ship doesn't get hate for being canon. So why does this one?

I mean, I really enjoy this ship's development. I love how Hiccup had this massively dorky puppy crush on Astrid, and that unlike the others, Astrid did not treat him badly or tease him. She always did her own thing, determined to defend her country. I like that when Hiccup starts to get good, Astrid not only gets jealous, but gets suspicious as well, wondering how on earth did Hiccup get better at what she did than her. And I like that when she falls in love with him, it is so subtle the context yet so emotion-striking at the same time.

You can feel that Astrid starts to admire Hiccup for his brave. You can feel that Astrid does not regret having someone show her a different view, even to something that she's always been so determined on. You can feel Astrid's realization of who Hiccup is hitting her like a ton of bricks, and so does this relationship. When they kissed it definitely felt earned, even around the second time, and I liked that Hiccup was obviously crazy for her, and still is, yet you feel less idolization and more devotion from his part.

And then in the movies they get so fluffy and natural it makes you want to die. I mean, god fucking damn, yes! I didn't even see the second movie but I've seen the clips entirely for them and they are so natural and loving and cute and realistic and just??? Yes????

I love this ship, a great lot. I am as crazy for this ship as everyone is for the entire movie. This is a diamond in the rough for me, it's finding gold in the darkest mine. Had this movie been a love story, and I would've fallen just as in love for it as anyone is, hook line and sinker. I am going DOWN with this ship and I am defending it for my death.
