I was sitting on the plane, headed towards Vancouver to see Colleen. I haven't seen her in nearly three weeks as I toured and she started her Netflix show. I talked to her many times a day by phone or through Facetime and everyday got worse for me. I could feel myself slipping on the inside. I missed her so much. The last few nights I was in tears speaking to her and I could tell she was upset as well but tried not to show it. She was meeting me at the airport and we were going to drive around a bit and do some sightseeing and go for dinner on the water. She was so excited to show me all around. She says I will love it here. I close my eyes and try to pass the time before landing. I can't wait to hold her.
I step off the plane and make my way down the exit. I can feel my heart beating out of my chest and can't wipe the smile off my face. I reach the top of the ramp and see her sitting in one of the chairs looking at her phone. She is in my favourite tshirt and has her hair in a curly ponytail. She is perfect. She finally looks up as I get closer. "Baby" I say tearing up as I drop my knapsack and she jumps into my arms sobbing. I nuzzle into her neck kissing her squeezing her tighter. "I missed you terribly" I say into her ear. She nods and pulls back and smiles. "I tried not to think about you, but I failed" she says giggling. I lean into her and kiss her as she wraps her arms around my neck. We stop after about 10 seconds but we are both flushed as we pull apart. I start to smile and wipe her tears. "Lets never be apart for that long ever again" I say. "Agreed" she says as she gasps for a breath. I lower her to the floor and we slowly make our way to pick up my bags as we quietly talk and hug. My entire soul feels alive again. It's amazing what she does for me.
We drive from the airport to Stanley Park. As we drive there I am in awe of this beautiful place. "Like it hey?" She says laughing as she pulls into a parking spot. "Its amazing" I say smiling. "Told you. Lets go!" she says smiling as she grabs her jacket from the back seat. We walk together along the trail along the water. I am speechless as we head towards a clearing. She keeps giggling watching me as we stroll along until we reach a grass area. I stop in my tracks. "Holy shit! Is this place real?" I ask. Colleen hugs me laughing. " Josh, I told you. I am so glad you love it. Its our home for the next few months babe" she says. "I think I can handle it" I say laughing. I am so excited to have some of my favourite things right in front of me. My girl in my arms and the mountains and nature surrounding us. I love this moment. I love her.
