Josh POV
"I am sorry her heart stopped. She is unresponsive" one of the doctors kneels down to us on the floor. I hear Colleen scream like I have never before heard her. She is a basket case for obvious reasons and it is making me worse. I see Gwen sit down in front of Colleen with Teeny as Rachel comes in front of me. "Josh" she says crying. "My girl Rachel. My beautiful daughter" I say holding her. "I know buddy. They did everything they could" she says. I nod and look over at Colleen and grab her. The nurse is getting a shot ready for her to calm her down as Gwen hugs her. It is complete chaos.
A few hours later Erin is sitting beside me in Colleens hospital room. She grabs my hand as we watch Colleen sleep. She is devastated and they have knocked her out. I see a nurse peak her head into the doorway and wave for me to come out. I walk out with Erin holding me and stand in front of the doctor who is waiting for me. "Mr Evans, we did a autopsy on Lily. She had a hole in her heart the size of an acorn. It was undetectable until it was too late. It is genetic in fact. If you and Colleen have anymore kids they will need to be checked for this as soon as they are born" he says sadly. I nod not saying a word. I hear Erin talking to them as I turn back around to go with Colleen. I open the door and she is crying with Rachel. I walk over to them crying and she sees me. "I want you Josh" she sobs. Rachel climbs out of the way and everyone leaves the room. I slide into her bed with her and hold her like never before. "we lost Lily" she sobs. I nod crying. " I know baby" I stutter. "I am in a nightmare" she continues. "Baby, just breathe sweetheart ok?" I ask her. "I don't even want to live anymore" she says. "Colleen please don't talk like that" I say sobbing. She cuddles herself to me against my chest. "Oh baby. I just need you to stay with me. We will work through it ok?" I say. She just continues to cry as a nurse walks in. She holds up a shot as if asking me 'does she need another?'. "Baby do you need something for your nerves?" I ask her holding her face. She nods. I see the nurse sympathetically smile and give Colleen a shot into her arm. The nurse leaves and I hold her tight. "Sleep babe ok? I am not letting you go" I say kissing her hair.
