I hear the door open behind me as I sit beside Colleen. I turn around to see a doctor standing beside me. "Mr. Evans?" He says to me. I nod and stand up to shake his hand. "can you follow me out to the hallway to speak for a moment please?" he asks. I nod again and slowly follow him out to the hallway. "Mr. Evans, Colleen sustained a head injury putting her into a slight coma. We expect her in time to recover from that. She's broken a few ribs and so that's why we are helping her with some oxygen to help her breathe. She also injured her right hand but I don't want to put her through the x-ray machine just yet to see if anything is broken so we've just bandaged it for now" he says to me. "So you think she'll be fine?" I say crying. He nods again. "Yes I believe in time she will be" he says. "however we found something when running tests on Colleen" he says. "What?" I asked tearfully. "Mr. Evans, Colleen is pregnant. Did you know that?" He asked. I shake my head no sobbing. "I'm guessing those are happy tears Mr. Evans. Congratulations! She is about 3 to 4 weeks along and the baby seems just fine" he says shaking my hand as he walks down the hallway. I'm in total shock as I stand outside her room. We are pregnant again and she isn't even awake to enjoy it.
I sit with her for the next few days. I am exhausted. I haven't told anyone in her family that we are expecting as I want to tell her first. I sit with her today and she is stirring. "Gwen she is going to wake up today" I say looking at her. I see her eyes try to open so I start rubbing her cheek. "Baby we are here" I say in her ear. I see her open her eyes and look at her Mom as Gwen cries. "Hey baby" Gwen says. "My head hurts" she says grabbing her head. I nod smiling at her. "What happened to Brian? I was so scared" she says crying. "Kory knocked him out with a chair" I say smiling as she rubs my cheek from tears. "I love you" I say leaning down to her as she laughs about Kory knocking him out. "I love you baby" she says running her fingers through my hair. She grabs her chest from her broken ribs in pain. "He broke a few ribs babe. Take it easy" I say looking at her squinting. She nods and smiles. I see everyone leave the room giving us some space. I smile down at her. "Baby I have to tell you something" I say rubbing her belly. She just stares at me as she listens.
