Chapter Fifty Three: Hospital

As soon as the ambulance pulled up in front of the hospital the paramedics pulled Maya out of the back of the ambulance and rushed her into the hospital with me and Ben following them. I kept my eyes on Maya the whole time I followed the paramedics and her, just to make sure she was still breathing. Soon, however, I was stopped from following them by a nurse when the paramedics and Maya got near a surgery room. I was kind of okay with that because I didn't want to see what was about to happen in there.

So as soon as I was stopped I walked out into the waiting room near the surgery room before I sat down in one of the chairs in here while Ben sat down in my lap.

"Mommy?" Ben asked before he started to cry for some reason.

But I kind of knew the reason why he started to cry. Ben started to cry because he has missed Maya all day and just wants her to be back right now so he can be in her arms again. Yeah I forgot to mention he's a mamas boy like I was or still am, actually.

Anyway, I sadly smiled at Ben as he continued to cry before I stood up from my chair and turned Ben around so he can cry into my chest.

"Shh, shh it's okay buddy, it's okay, don't cry, don't cry, mommy's going to be just fine the doctors just have to fix her up thanks to her getting hurt, but she'll be fine" I said in a calming voice as I swayed back and forth and rubbed my hand up and down Ben's back as well to calm him down.

"Mommy....hur-hur-hurt?" Ben asked as he pulled away from me a bit and looked up at me as tears fell down his face.

I felt my heart break a bit at that as I looked at Ben in a bit of sadness.

"Y-y-yeah.....mommy's hurt, but she'll be okay in s little while" I said as I wiped Bens tears away from his face.

Ben just looked at me in silence as tears continued to fall down his face before he buried his face into the crock of my neck as he held on tightly to my shirt with his hands. I kissed Ben on the top of his head after he did that as I continued to sway back and forth and rub my hand up and down Bens back. But as I continued to do that I felt tears forming up in my eyes when I realized that I didn't keep Maya save like I promised her I would.

How could I have let this happen? What kind of person am I for letting this happen? And how could I have not kept the person I love the most save like I promised her I would?

I'm probably the worst person on Earth right now thanks to me letting this happen to Maya.

"Daddy?" Ben asked as he pulled away from me a bit and looked up at me again as well.

"What is it buddy?" I asked as I looked down at Ben.

"Ti-ti-tired" Ben said as he started to rub his eyes with his hands before he let out a yawn.

"Are you tired buddy?" I asked with a faint smile.

Ben nodded his head before letting out another yawn as he continued to rub his eyes with his hands. I smiled at Ben before I kissed him on his forehead as I sat back down in my chair and sat Ben down in my lap as well. Ben looked up and smiled at me when I did that as he let our another yawn and rubbed his eyes once again before he snuggled into my stomach as he took hold of my shirt and held onto it tightly.

I smiled at that as I pulled Ben closer to me and started to rub my hand up and down his back again. I did that for a while before I stopped when I saw that Ben was fast asleep.
