I wake up early to get ready for dance. On Saturdays, we always have a session in the morning, instead of after school, and on Sundays there is usually no dance. Though this weekend there is, because of the female soloist auditions. I often see James on Sundays when there isn't dance though, so that makes it better.
I go downstairs to get ready. After a few minutes, I see Emily limping along the hallway. "Hey, Em. Are you alright?"
She forces a smile before replying, "I'm okay!" Though she looks really in pain. She slowly walks off into the living room.
I hear the crunch of gravel on the driveway. James is here. I gather my things together before following Emily into the living room. "I've got to go to dance now, bye."
"Oh ok," I think she forgot, because she hasn't been for so long. "Bye then, Riley."
I hug her before walking out and unlocking the door to see James. "Hey, Riley!"
"Hey." I reply happily.
We get in his car and drive over to the studio.
As we walk in, I notice West looking over at us. I guess they haven't sorted out what happened yet. "James, are you going to sort it out with West?"
"Oh, yeah."
West's the only one here at the moment, so I go and put my stuff in my cubby. I hear James talking to West. "Sorry bro, I was just in a bad mood yesterday..."
"Whatever, it doesn't matter," West replies. "I discovered this new flip, want to see?"
And that was it. Why are guys so uncomplicated?! They fall out, they get over it. With girls, it always takes so much longer for them to return to normal.
After a few minutes, Giselle and Thalia walk in. "Hey, Riley!"
"Hey," I reply, standing up and walking over to them. "Are either of you auditioning for the solo competition?"
"Yeah, I am." Giselle replies. "You?"
"Maybe..." I say, smiling.
"Thalia?"
"No, I'm not going to this time. So that's one less person you need to worry about!"
At that point, Miss Kate walks into Studio A. Everyone is here now and she looks around at A Troupe.
"Right. As you know, there is a solo competition coming up in a few weeks. Today, we are going to hold auditions for the male soloist, and tomorrow, the female soloist. So, boys, I hope you've prepared your solos!" She looks around at the boys, who are standing around at the back.
"Which of you are auditioning?"
"I am," Eldon says.
"I will too!" West says, narrowing his eyes at Eldon jokingly.
"James?" Miss Kate asks.
"Nah, I'm alright."
"Max?"
"No, I'm good."
"Ok, then. West and Eldon, get ready to do your solos..."
