Chapter 44: Preliminary Rounds Part 1

Sentoki, Kimyona, Subarashi, and Jinsoku were at the concession stand, talking about what happened.

"Dude! You shoulda seen the way Venusaur destroyed Arbok!" yelled Jinsoku.

They discussed their league battles when Hikaru approached them from behind.

"Well guys. You all made it! Congrats!" she said with joy," Next is the preliminary rounds. You're gonna have to battle non-stop but there will be breaks in between. There's a chance you will be separated into the different stadiums so do your best! Oh! And you're gonna battle until there is 16 trainers left. Good luck and I'll try to find you guys so I can watch!" Hikaru then left and went back to the stands.

The four of them would be battling other trainers for a while since only 16 trainers are left. Once there are 16 trainers remaining, it would go to the final rounds. Whoever wins the league has permission to challenge the Elite Four. Sentoki was called to the main stadium and so was Jinsoku; Kimyona was put in a separate stadium and Subarashi was too.

Immediately, Sentoki was called up to battle first. The other trainer seemed to be a dark figure. It was obvious it was a male but he covered his face up and only wore black. He called out a Charizard. Sentoki was about to grab Rambo's pokeball but Tabak let itself out.

"Not again!" shouted Hikaru since she made it in time to watch Sentoki's battle.

Charizard flew in the air and came at Tabak with a Wing Attack. Tabak jumped and landed on Charizard's back, swiping at him with a volley of Leaf Blades. Charizard dove at the ground and threw Tabak off. Tabak rolled on its back and turned, only to get hit by a Slash attack. He then spun around and landed on its stomach. Charizard flew back around with Flamethrower. Tabak backflipped, dodged the attack, and nailed Charizard with Bullet Seed. Charizard came back with Fire Blast, hurting Tabak hard. Sentoki quickly withdrew Tabak and switched out with Blastoise.

Charizard swooped down at Rambo, full speed. Rambo used Water Gun but Charizard strafed and avoided the attack, using Slash on Rambo. Rambo retaliated with a Water Spout and caught Charizard off guard. Charizard came in with multiple slash attacks with Rambo being able to dodge most of them but some were a close call. Rambo quickly used Bite and clamped its tough jaws onto Charizard's right arm. Charizard roared with pain and began to beat down Rambo's head. While beating Rambo Charizard forgot he was left wide open and got flushed out with Water Gun. Charizard had fainted!

"Wow! While Charizard was hitting Rambo's head to make him let go, he was able to hit him head on with his open cannon!" said Hikaru to Pichu.

Next up was Kadabra. Tabak was switched back out to battle Kadabra's speed and trickery. Kadabra quickly started the battle using Psycho Cut and Tabak was able to dodge all the attacks but the last one. Tabak was caught off-guard and Kadabra was able to follow up with Psybeam.

From the sidelines Sentoki shouted," You have to get closer and find an opening in order to beat this guy!"

Tabak overheard and grunted in response to show that he acknowledged his master's response. Tabak prepared Leaf Blade and charged at Kadabra who was standing motionless. Kadabra launched multiple Psycho Cuts at Tabak who strafed them. Just before he landed a Leaf Blade, Kadabra used Psychic, throwing Tabak at a wall. In mid-air, Tabak charged sunlight and used Solar Beam on the wall, propelling him off it and back at Kadabra.

"Just as we practiced!" cheered Sentoki.

Kadabra was motionless because he did not expect that to happen. Tabak prepared Leaf Blade and sliced Kadabra through the chest. Kadabra flew back and landed on its back. "Quick Slam!" shouted Sentoki. Quick Slam is a move they practiced by combining Quick Attack and Slam. Just as Kadabra got to his feet, Tabak rammed into him and slammed Kadabra into a wall, knocking it out.

"Yes! Just one more!" shouted Hikaru with Pichu jumping beside her.

The final Pokemon Sentoki's opponent used was Marowak. Sentoki said," Let's use Icer for this," as he switched out. Icer hardly battled and this was his time to shine. Icer began the battle with a Quick Attack. Marowak dodged it and used Bone Club, hitting Icer in the back. Icer tried once again and Marowak did the same thing to counter it. This time Marowak came in with Bone Rush. Icer quickly used Barrier and blocked it off. Marowak used Rock Smash and destroyed the Barrier! "No!!" shouted Sentoki. Icer reacted quickly and used Ice Beam as soon as the forcefield broke. Marowak was shot back and smirked. Icer used Quick Attack. Marowak used Bonemerang to try to hit Icer. Icer used Bite and was able to catch the bone! Everyone in the stands was surprised, even Marowak. Icer used Ice Shard while running and was able to hit Marowak who fell on its back. Icer jumped, threw the bone at Marowak, and finished with Tackle. The surprised Marowak had fainted on the ground.

"You did it!" shouted Sentoki as he ran onto the battlefield to embrace Icer on his stunning victory.
