Chapter 36: Viridian Gym

"Hey look! It's Viridian City!" Hikaru pointed at the bustling place.

"This sure brings back memories," Kimyona said.

"Yeah," Sentoki agreed. Viridian City was one of the first places he and Kimyona went to in the beginning of their journeys. It is also the place where they first met and became friends.

"Isn't this the place where you guys decided to travel together?" Hikaru asked. Kimyona and Sentoki nodded their heads. They began to retell her how they met on the way to the gym. On the way, Hikaru noticed a familiar silhouette.

"BLUE!" she said with glee. Pichu even waved at the approaching figure.

"Blue?" Sentoki and Kimyona asked in unison. Blue finally came into good view.

"Hikaru, it's been awhile," Blue said coolly.

"It really has. I hadn't seen you since the beginning of my journey," Hikaru said.

"I see you've done your mission well," Blue nodded his head at Sentoki and Kimyona to show his acknowledgement. Hikaru turned to her friends to introduce Blue.

"This is Blue. He's one of the original Pokedex Holders from Kanto. He's also Professor Oak's grandson and gym leader to the Viridian Gym."

"So you're the gym leader. Interesting," Sentoki smirked.

"That's right. And you're Sentoki. You must be powerful if you're here to challenge me," Blue shot back.

"Enough of the conversing. Can we please just go challenge the gym?" Kimyona interrupted, eager to get her last badge.

"I like this kind of enthusiasm," Blue said, "Follow me." He led the trio to the gym. Inside, he went over to the battlefield.

"And my first challenger will be?" he asked arrogantly. At that moment, Sentoki took out Berserk.

"I will," Sentoki smirked.

"Let's battle," Blue said, taking out Scizor and immediately used X-Scissor. Berserk dodged it and countered with Hammer Arm. Scizor jumped and used Razor Wind. A giant whirlwind surrounded Berserk. The wind quickly made small cuts on him but he was unfazed by it.

Hikaru whistled at the sight of the battle, "They're really going at it."

"I know, right? Seeing them is getting me even more psyched for my battle," Kimyona said at the edge of her seat.

"You're Emboar's strong, being able to withstand Razor Wind," Blue stated, "But can it deal with Iron Head?"

Scizor's head turned to steel as it came to contact with Berserk's body. He flinched and gave the opponent an opening. Scizor used Metal Claw to finish him. The whirlwind from Razor Wind and the impact from Metal Claw was too much Berserk. It fainted and Blue was the winner of the first round.

"You did well, Berserk," Sentoki praised, 'He's a lot stronger than I thought. I really have to be more careful in the other rounds.'

'Kid's good. I'm pretty sure he can do better,' Blue thought as he returned Scizor and took out Machamp. Sentoki took out Dragonair.

Machamp attacked with a volley of Karate Chops. Dragonair, using its curved body, was able to dodge every attack before letting loose with an Aqua Tail. Machamp's feet skid the ground as he was pushed back. Dragonair's tail hit the ground and curved, pointing the tip at Machamp like a scorpion.

"Impressive," said the arrogant Blue as he scratched his chin.

Machamp attacked with Seismic Toss. Dragonair wasn't able to dodge the attack so it ended up getting launched into orbit along with Machamp. Machamp and Dragonair went falling from 20 feet in the air. Dragonair quickly used Aqua Jet, making Machamp soaked. Machamp clung onto Dragonair as he was flying at 50 miles per hour. Dragonair spun, making Machamp fall and hit the ground. Machamp landed on his back, trying to get to its feet as quickly as possible. Dragonair flew back around and attacked with Iron Tail. Machamp couldn't get up in time before the attack landed flat on its back. Machamp laid on the ground on his chest.
