Chapter 32: Heating Things up with Blaine

"Well we have the key! Let's go already!" yelled Sentoki with excitement.

"Hold on!" Kimyona called to him from their table.

They finished up breakfast in the lobby downstairs and headed out the door. Hikaru looked up as she closed her eyes.

"Hmm...," she began to say.

"What is it, Hikaru?" asked Sentoki as he turned around.

The wind began to pick up as leaves spun in a circle nearby. Pichu's red cheeks also started to spark a bit. "I can sense that it's gonna rain in about 1 hour."

"How can you tell?" asked Kimyona as she looked up at the darkening clouds.

"I just can."

They began to run towards the large volcano that was covered in the clouds. They ran for 5 minutes before they got to the foot of the volcano.

"How are we gonna get up there?" asked Kimyona.

"Hey, you kids!" yelled someone from far away.

"Huh? Who?" Sentoki asked.

"You kids!" yelled the person as he got closer.

The person walked closer and it was a man who was dressed in a red shirt with brown shorts, flip flops, and gray hair.

"Can we help you, sir?" asked Hikaru.

"So you're looking for the gym, eh?"

"Indeed we are," Sentoki replied.

"Alright. Follow me!"

They looked at each other and silently agreed to follow him. They followed the man to the other side of the volcano. He grabbed a large bush and moved it aside, revealing a secret tunnel. They walked down the tunnel and found a huge iron door with a keyhole in the middle.

"You got the key from the mansion?" asked the man as he showed the keyhole.

"Yes we do!" said Kimyona. She took the key out of her pocket and placed it into the hole. She turned it and the iron doors opened, revealing iron stairs. They walked up several flights of stairs and made it to the top of the volcano, where rocky pillars were extending out of the lava.

"Woah," said Sentoki as he felt the heat from the lava.

"Look's like you're worthy of challenging the Cinnabar Gym," commented the old man.

"Who's the gym leader here?"

"He just helped you," he said as he took off the disguise.

"You're Blaine?!" Sentoki and Kimyona yelled in unison.

"Indeed, I am. I saw you kids help put the fire in the Pokemon Mansion."

"You were watching us?" Hikaru asked.

"Yes I was. It proved you worthy of challenging me. So who's up first?"

"I am," said Sentoki as he walked to the edge of the volcano.

"Good. It'll be a 1 on 1 battle. You can switch as many times as you like," said Blaine as he walked to the other side and took out Magmar.

"I like your Magmar. In that case, I'll use my Electabuzz, or as I call him: Dinamika."

Magmar and Dinamika stood on the rocky pillars that extended out of lava. Magmar began to leap from pillar to pillar, coming closer and closer to Dinamika. Dinamika used Electro Ball to try to stop the fast Magmar but Magmar was able to dodge every single attack. Magmar leaped at Dinamika with a Fire Punch attack but Dinamika grabbed its hand with Thunder Punch. Dinamika tightened its grip on Magmar's fist and let loose with a Thunder. Magmar began to yell as it got electrocuted with Dinamika's powerful attack. Magmar quickly escaped and jumped back onto a different pillar.

"Nice," Sentoki praised Dinamika.

Steam was coming out of Magmar as he tried to cool down. Dinamika took the chance and began to jump towards Magmar. Magmar used Fire Punch again but Dinamika knew it was coming so it used Barrier. Magmar's attack was unsuccessful and Dinamika used Dynamic Punch to finish it off. Magmar fell onto another pillar and fainted.

"Good job, kid. Here's your Volcano Badge," said an impressed Blaine. Sentoki put it in the badge case and watched Kimyona as she walked to the edge of the volcano.

"I'll use Ninetales," Blaine announced.

"Then I'll use Arcanine," said Kimyona

"Wow! Kimyona's using Arcanine against Ninetales and you used an Electabuzz against a Magmar! It's a battle between counterparts!" squealed the fascinated Hikaru as Sentoki stood by her on the edge of the volcano.

Arcanine began by jumping from pillar to pillar, trying to make Ninetales dizzy. Ninetales sensed Arcanine's strategy and tried to block him off with a Fire Spin. Arcanine stood, waiting on a pillar. Ninetales wouldn't stop using Fire Spin.

'I'll have to tire Ninetales out,' thought Kimyona to herself. Unfortunately, Arcanine was thinking something way different than its trainer! Arcanine decided that once the pillar gets hot enough, he would destroy it to stop Ninetales' attack. Arcanine used Flamethrower and aimed at Ninetales' feet.

"What's he doing?" asked Kimyona.

"I don't know but your Arcanine is up to something," Blaine observed.

The pillar began to get darker as it absorbed more heat from both attacks. Arcanine stopped and used ExtremeSpeed to get to another pillar. As it jumped, he used his tail to feel the pillar.

'Just right,' thought Arcanine.

Arcanine began to absorb sunlight and he fired a Solar Beam. The attack made its mark, destroyed the pillar, and Ninetales fell. Ninetales was able to survive but it was 3 feet above lava!

"Give it up, Blaine! Your Ninetales is trapped!" yelled Kimyona with confidence.

"Not quite," he said slyly.

Ninetales leaped onto the side of a pillar and jumped off, trying to get to the top of another.

'I was expecting that,' thought Arcanine. Right before Ninetales' front paws were about to touch the pillar, Arcanine used ExtremeSpeed. Ninetales was sent out of the volcano, falling to the trees from under.

"Oh no! Venusaur! Catch her!" exclaimed Kimyona as she let Venusaur out. Venusaur was able to catch Ninetales with Vine Whip. She was pulled up and set beside Blaine.

"Well, you won, kid," Blaine said giving her the Volcano Badge.

"How?" asked Kimyona with suspicion.

"Well, if Ninetales was really sent over, she would've been done for but you saved her. And you got a nice Arcanine there by the way."

"Thanks," said Kimyona as she put her Volcano Badge away. They left the gym and went to the hotel and swam. It was their last night at the luxury hotel so they made it the best. They were treated to a free seafood buffet since they saved the Pokemon Mansion. Tomorrow, they're going home.
